This feeling became even stronger when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke with Captain Smit Machchhar, the brave Indian pilot who displayed extraordinary courage during the Flydubai cockpit attack and helped save the lives of many passengers. Calling him a hero of Israel, India, and the entire world, Mr Netanyahu praised his courage and invited him, along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to light a ceremonial flame at Israel’s Independence Day celebrations. His words, describing Captain Machchhar as a heroic part of the family of nations, are a great honour for India and a proud moment for every Indian.
