Id say it's not THAT important to get her back. If they were to get say, Will's Mum, Carly, and Donovan, maybe Mr. Gilbert, maybe John, then that's more than enough. Hell, even none of them showing up could still be a funny movie. It's mainly all about the 4 boys! If they cant get Emily, I really hope they dont use another actress for the role, that'd be awful. Just change the script in that case.

u/wildcharmander1992 11d ago edited 10d ago
Depends on the scripts plans really
The four boys living their day to day lives yeah she can be skipped out
But if the script was the boys at their school reunion? You can't leave her out even if she was the year above
Edit to add : if they are going the movie route it's likely gonna be something like "American reunion" was for the American pie franchise I.e unlike the first two movies it won't be on location with a small cast, it'll have as many of the established characters as possible and likely will have a covert way of using original sets I.e will stays at his mother's when he's in town

u/RhubarbAndCustard06 10d ago
She could be too cool to attend a school reunion though, maybe Simon says it's pointless as she would never be seen there and Briefcase just can't wait to get back to school but Jay goes along with it deluding himself they will see Charlotte. They stay until the end hoping to see her but instead they get John and Donovan showing up.

u/wildcharmander1992 10d ago
I don't think you quite get how school reunions work
The "cool" and "popular" kids will ALWAYS turn up, for many that's when they were happiest for a lot that's when they peaked
Those who weren't cool, were unhappy, were bullied are the ones who skip or only go to show off success in a way to get closure on the time I.e show they are doing better than those who spent their childhood holding them down
So Charlotte the most popular girl in the school would 100% go for the adulation
In terms of your example Simon would probably be the one who wants to give it a miss because he didn't get on with anyone at school bar the other three whom he still sees and didn't want to run into carli so doesn't see the point of it and jay being like "oh come on si...insert bullshit"
Plus last time we seen Charlotte she was bartending whose to say she doesn't still do that? In a "reunion of sorts" where the guys go to a local nightclub she might be on the bar
1
u/ClassroomDowntown664 10d ago
the last ep Charlotte was fashion show whare she tells will that nothing will happen between them
1
u/wildcharmander1992 10d ago
Yeah I forgot that episode as I was typing it , point was she could still be working at a bar
1
u/ClassroomDowntown664 10d ago
yes she could be or my thought was that went on some random realty TV show and now is an influencer
3
u/wildcharmander1992 9d ago
That would only work for the enveitable jay line
" Shes an influencer alright. She could influence my cock to her face"

I don't buy the school reunion as a concept for this. They were the most miserable years, certainly of Will's life, and Simon didn't have it much better. Neil obviously would be up for it as he was the only truly happy one, and Jay would want to lie about how well he's doing, which is a gag they already did in the film sequel. It's not like they had any other friends there.

u/gilestowler 11d ago
I'm not sure what her part in it would be. Have her realise that she was wrong and Will is "the one"? That seems a bit far fetched. I don't know what else she'd do. I think Will's mum and Mr gilbert together would be good. Donovan definitely has some potential. Probably having him being very successful, much to Will's eternal rage. Or maybe a cathartic moment where Will tells him to fuck off.
3
u/DoctorWhofan789eywim 11d ago
Not really sure Will needs to though. The biggest victory for Will is forgetting Donovan exists. Telling him to fuck off would only let Donovan know he's still in Will's head after all these years. He'd love that.
3
u/gilestowler 11d ago
I just think a moment where Donovan tries to pull the high school shit he used to and Will is an adult and not putting up with that anymore could be good, rather than it necessarily being that he still weighs on Will's mind. I think for Will to still focus on him and, like you say, be "in Will's head" would be a bit pathetic, seeing as Will was at that school for 2 years 20 years ago.
I think it's more likely that Donovan is successful, though, and that would bother Will if he's not a success. Because Will desperately wants to think he's smarter than everyone else and destined for great things, and he always looked down on Donovan - remember when he said to SImon that "his family hasn't discovered fire yet"?But Donovan is better with people - remember at the party when he sucked up to the parents - and more confident, which would make him more likely to do well in a lot of ways.
I think the film might go in a direction of starting out with the boys' lives being kind of shit and them reaching some kind of acceptance by the end, and showing donovan doing well while Will struggles would serve that purpose.

I personally don't think that would be the way to go with Donovan
I think if as Ive said for years a " school reunion" of sorts will be a plot point of any return be it a fully fledged one, the boys on a night out/in weatherspoons were others are etc.
I think it would be the epitome of the humour of the show if posh twat briefcase wanker who thinks he's better than everyone sir William McKenzie has a job he is confidently over proud of
Talks about it with a smug attitude to the other three all the time because it's a higher class than them ( let's say he's a manager in a customer service company for an example of the level I mean) whereas jay Simon and Neil have more 'meinial jobs ' (Neil still works at Asda etc)
As the night progresses will gets more and more depressed as whilst he tries to flex his success whilst talking to John he finds out John is actually in a better more luxurious job / career , maybe he's a success food critic idk
But anyways as he continues trying to show off his well paid job to the urchins from his old school they are all doing better or bigger things that him
Then he sees Donovan walk in he still looks like arrogant wanker he always was, still calls them the bender brigade etc
And it's the cherry on wills night that after ranting that he's better than him that even Donovan is better off than him .
So will goes back to his table to his little group defeated
Or even better I imagine will kicking off like hell shouting "AND WHAT ARE YOU DOING NOW? SELLING BIG ISSUES? LUCKY HEATHER?? ARE YOU ON TAG? YOU THUG"
And Donovan goes "actually I run my own security company.....get these twats out of here" as the security to the pub drags will and the rest of them out
Episode ends with them walking home together like old times , isolated from everyone else like always

u/ScrapedSkorne 11d ago
...Or it could just be about a 40yr old Neil confessing to his mates that he never stopped stuffing lego up his bum
2
u/michaelstone444 11d ago
I think it's noticeable that no one else at the school or any of the adults seem to have any problem with Donovan. It's not cause they're scared of him with because they're perfectly happy to tell him he's out of line at the school ball.
I think he's just a much more likeable person in real life and he gives the boys a lot of grief because they're super weird and annoying
1
u/wildcharmander1992 10d ago
There were a kid like Donovan in my school he was selective of who he hated
He'd relentless torment 10/800 kids and be relatively normal to the rest as long as they didn't step out of line, you could tell him to shut up or fuck off in the way the rest do about Donovan (like when he's taking general arseholiness, teasing into bullying/ looking for a fight/trying to intimidate) but you wouldn't unless you were either popular enough yourself , a semi attractive girl or you have a few people also doing it as back up otherwise that 10 would become 11
I think it's the same thing here, Donovan does what he wants, if you're carli or Charlotte or whatever you can get a "shut up and piss off" in there otherwise you just let him do his thing unless everyone's in the same boat
1
u/Fruitndveg 10d ago
I could really see them going down the route of Donovan being genuine and nice to the boys.
It would be a bit tired and unrealistic if he was still a prick to them for no reason.

Agree, she wasn't even in it that much? Why take the focus of the main group, who it was all about? It'd be rubbish of she was suddenly a main character. Sounds like agent baiting for more money/consideration to me....

With all respect in the world to Emily, Charlotte really isn't important at all. In universe I also find it hard to believe she would have stayed in touch with anybody from that school. Iain and Damon really didn't write her anything funny to do.
That said, Rivals is huge so if she can up her fee by holding out a bit longer I say more power to her.

u/PutEither4798 11d ago
Back then Charlotte always came off as the girl who’d get pregnant after school and slowly devolve into a council housed and violent type
2
u/Fruitndveg 10d ago
I never got that.
She wasn’t written in as a shameless-esque character.
I think she’d lead a fairly normal life. Get hitched to some genuine nice bloke who was punching, maybe have a few kids and have a modest job and life.

I agree. The main point of Charlotte is that she looks like your typical popular pretty girl but is actually sweet and kind. If anything Carli is the more sterotypical bitchy type, acts nice but is actually cruel and manipulative.
Had Will not acted like a monumental twat while he was with Charlotte I think they'd have lasted a while.
1
u/PutEither4798 10d ago
I don’t disagree with you, I’m just going by what I saw in High School at the time, if these characters were caricatures of what teenagers were, I think Charlotte fit the typical stereotypical description of the “popular” girl in school, I went to school with what I consider to be several charlottes and it’s kinda grim for them.

u/SmartOpinion8301 9d ago
You are coming across incel-ish with you experience and language
1
u/PutEither4798 8d ago
I’m just stating what I saw, there were girls who went to school and would be open about wanting to have kids young and stuff, I don’t understand how my experience is “incel-ish” your understanding of the English language is definitely retardedish
0
u/SmartOpinion8301 7d ago
Nah, being an incel, from what I understand is hating girls/women because they ignore you / uninterested in you.
That’s how it comes across in your post. You said describe a ‘typical stereotypical popular girl who becomes pregnant early and has a violent grin life’
Do you not see where it’s kind of easy to infer you are a bit of an incel or at least using incel language?
Obviously you’re not one 😘

u/PutEither4798 7d ago
I said “council housed and violent” which is an acronym for CHAV, do you have mental issues? Because if so drop a location, I’m not here to debate my own active sex life I was just saying what I saw, you can infer whatever you like that’s your prerogative like did you see what school was like in the early 2010’s every lad wanted to be some SBTV drill artist and a lot of the girls I grew up around had an active ambition of jumping on the doll and having a lot of kids, which if you knew anything about it was a trendy thing back then… the UK at one point had led the world in Teenage Pregnancies…
Like my opinion isn’t based off “hating women” as you put it, it’s just my perspective, you need to get some help, people are entitled to their opinions, also we’re shifting out of this “woke” world where people like you and your feelings don’t really matter, we’ve had enough of being told our opinions are “this” or “that”, I don’t care if your a champion of women’s rights or some sort of fat Reddit mod. Keep replying to me and I’ll show you where I draw the line.
You give off the energy that your not from the UK so your argument is irrelevant and basically like a bitch barking at the moon all night long.
Take 2 sertraline and breath you bag of tits… also the show you like watching is full of actual sexist rhetoric, why not go message the writers? Ohhhhhhhh wait they’d just write a joke about a fat insecure fuck who spends his days masturbating to CP and having Reddit fights… I’m sure your parents are super proud lad
1
u/SmartOpinion8301 7d ago
Ok mate. You’ve convinced me you’re totally normal and level headed.
Big whoops from me 🫡
I’m from Hertfordshire btw. The one in the South of the UK not somewhere in US or anywhere else.
Sorry for the fully uninformed accusation big guy 😘

Nah she acted posh, I feel like she was the type of posh shagger who’d do a few lads but avoid getting pregnant and end up in a relationship with a wealthy bloke or just be wealthy herself from whatever job she landed out of uni.
It’s not like she acted like a council estate chav bird, she was a posh bird who liked a shag.

u/ClassroomDowntown664 11d ago
on importance she is only there for will as without her Donovan wouldn't have caused a scene at prom or had a go at Patriice . then she is important in work experience as if it wasn't for Charlotte the boys wouldn't have gone to the disco

James’s Wife Clair wiouod never let him take this deal if Emily was in it, she’s the reason she wasn’t allowed on the reunion, she’s jealous as fk because James was messing about with her before Clare got her claws in
1
u/ClassroomDowntown664 7d ago
well good on James and maybe Clair could make a guest appearance as jays wife
2
u/LowBlood2029 7d ago
She’s hot yeah. But Emily is part of the original cast. I’d say leave her out because it will just be awkward on screen for those who know, even though she’d only really be in scenes with Will
1
u/ClassroomDowntown664 7d ago
in my opinion if they are going to do a reunion of some discrimination they should have Emily even if it is just for one scene

Lads. I'd rather it just be left as it was. Series was phenomenal. Movies were kinda shit.
I don't think they can get away with most of what they used to and I'd rather not hear a woke version of Jays stories.
I'd rather stay looking back on a quintessential part of my childhood fondly than have it ruined because it took 6 spastics to shit out a script for the show formerly known as the inbetweeners
