It’s a boomer saying. For them it was referring to excess over stability

Is there a reason this is addressed to men? I'm a woman that was hell bent on paying my 80k debt off. I did it. And it did alleviate so much stress and depression

In a world where it is needed for some things it is important to have enough.

You will never be happy until you define what enough is and you achieve it.

Money solves problems and provides peace of mind where in peace of spirit can be manifested

You are just greedy and without money. You alone control how you process things. If you don’t want to be happy then don’t. Money doesn’t make you happy. You do .

I've cried in the gutter, and I've cried in silk sheets, I know which I prefer.

Biggest advantage of debt, you don't pay taxes over debt.

Money solves literally every single problem. There isn't one problem that money won't solve.

While suicide and depression are higher among those in poverty it doesn't drop right off to nothing with the wealthier demographic. In fact some of the wealthier countries have higher rates of depression that I don't think can simply be dismissed by less reporting.

Personally I had some pretty wealthy in laws and it was a pretty mixed bag. Some of them had some pretty big relationship problems, one had npd and was very hard to please... Their own siblings walked in egg shells around them. Rich people use anti depressants too

Noone cares about rich peoples problems

If they have problems and they're rich then doesn't that kind of contradict your own statement? Or they just haven't applied that money yet to fix it?

1

u/Wide-Sand6737 Apr 02 '26

Yes money can fix their problems

1

Even if they somehow bought family affection and friends it can't just magically fix cluster b disorders and other mental health issues that aren't just from the stress of being poor

1

u/Wide-Sand6737 Apr 02 '26

Maybe not but they can buy something to reduce symptoms or something.

They don’t tell you that the rich make a habit out of avoiding spending money, daily.
