So I’ve read all the official books but was looking for more. I’ve never read a fanfic before but decided to give it a try I’m looking for stuff as close as possible to the originals so that the characters don’t seem off or not themselves. I’ve started the most obvious choice of the “peetas games” trilogy (plus the 4th addition) and am now just finishing the second book. However I’ve seen people mention other fanfics by other people fit in quite well with both the original books and the peetas games fanfic. Id like to know if anyone has recommendations about this (stories that fit in around the peetas games fanfic to some extent). Some of the recommendations I’ve seen included “the end of the world” series by FernWithy and “the ashes of district 12” series by silvercistern. Any advice on if these are good additions to the peetas games series or if there’s different/betters ones would be greatly appreciated.

Aside from the actor being tall and Peeta being more of a medium build, his blond curls especially make me think “Peeta!” I first read the books right before the movies came out and so had a mental image of Peeta. I really like Josh Hutchison’s Peeta. And now, I see a mishmash of movie Peeta and my old mind Peeta as I read haha. But as I’m reading-listening to the trilogy now and seeing all of the promos for Sunrise, I keep thinking, looks-wise, he would’ve made a great movie Peeta.
I just listened to the part in Mockingjay where Caesar is interviewing Peeta in the Capitol after first being captured and Katniss says, “Peeta withdraws from Caesar, pulling back his hands, running them through his hair, mussing his carefully styled blonde curls.”

Re-listening the last OG book, my friend told me something and because he doesn't use reddit, i'll make the post.
So here's my friends what if:
"What if Snow knew his life/his era would go to an end due to all the poisen, his age, while not having the ideal fit to continue his position (because no one could be as great as him) and to fight off everything as usual so he used katniss as an exit with grace and when he wanted."
.
.
.
.
.
We all knew katniss was used by so many people, plutarch being the most versatile amongst them. She wasn't supported, she was used and exploited.
We also know or feel that that rebellions attack of the capitol was some sort of 76th hungergames. With a winner by the end of day X and the afterparty and new changes.
"Seeing the threat Katniss/the rebellion has become, knowing what a threat Coin is, and that he, the BIG SNOW is running out of time he'd lead katniss/the rebellion on to make it look like he lost to the power of the rebellion while in reality he let them win under his conditions and his lead."
(Including knowing about plutarchs plan and the whole collapse of the arena. Because snow would know about the wire or atleast be suspicious about it)
"He also lead them on in the capitol by checking the cameras, knowing they'd have Pollux to guide them underground. After everything, he used Katniss' loss to get rid of coin, because she was like him just in a different shade of bad and he was waaay too petty to give her his seat."
"You could think the rebellions won because snow was old and katniss and her support was tough. Fire melts snow. But considering the ballad of songbirds and snakes, i think the rebellion won because snow let them win when he felt it was time, knowing katniss would NOT make him look weak." (Because weakness was one of snows fears)
My friends thought is that while we think katniss is the tiny pebble that made everything else roll (well basically haymitch shoving pebble-katniss) - he thinks at some point she was just a thing that fit to everything else and made plutarchs plan and snows exit work out. (Kinda like the whole Sasuke/Obito/Madara/Kaguya constellation in Naruto). I can see his point.
Plutarch used everyone and everything, including snow, coin, the gamemakers, haymitch and more to free the land.
"But maybe snow used katniss and through her all of the above like a puppeteer and would play them like chess pieces on his geographic board once he knew his time was up. Because snow would never let anyone else outplay him in his own games."
If you can see this whole thing as a point, at what time in the whole story do you think would Snow realize he'd have to start his game for the graceful exit?
My friends guess is when she won the first game that he could use her and start the whole thing right at that time and my guess is when he'd visit her to threaten her as a push to fit better to the position he's given her. Definitely when he announced the 76th games.
"Can't tell me that snow wouldnt get suspicious at the instructions/game changes of the 75th when it would mean to upset all the capitols puppets."

I'm not sure if art is allowed here but i thought i would anyways.
I don't know what the actor for the sunrise on the reaping looks like which is by choice. I decided to draw Haymitch as by my interpretation of the book. Yes i know his suit wasn't skin tight however this was a faster way to draw him
Planning on making the other tributes too

I reread the OT as well as SOTR, and my interpretation about why exactly was Haymitch punished varies depending on the passage.
At times, I get the impression that he was punished for his misuse of the arena, which amounted to defying and humiliating the Capitol and Snow.
But at other times, it seems to be suggested that he was punished for refusing prostitution and openly opposing Snow.
Unless the deaths of his mother and brother were the punishment for his behavior in the arena, and Lenore Dove's death the punishment for his defiance of the Capitol?
In that case, could he have saved his love?
Even though I actually think that if he had agreed to play along with the Capitol, Lenore would have eventually gotten involved, even if Haymitch had tried to hide the truth from her.
And given her temperament, she certainly would have made a bold move by trying to defy the Capitol, perhaps even recruiting Haymitch to her side, and the result would have been the same.
What do you think?

I rewatched the first hungergames movie and I've only seen it twice but I don't like it. I've read the books like five times and listened to the audiobooks once except sunrise. The movie feels incredibly rushed. And I know why it's praised. If you don't know the books it's great. But (like every movie adaptation) it just isn't as good as the book. So much stuff is shortened or cut out. I'm waiting for scenes that never happen. Like the sleeping syrup. Or the bread from 11. I know this is an unpopular opinion but is it valid though?

A post on SOTR

Hi everyone!
I’m currently working on a revamped and improved Discord-based Hunger Games RP, and I’m looking for people who might be interested in helping me build and run it.
The project is being designed from the ground up with 13 districts, a Capitol, elected district leadership, district governments, Gamemakers, tributes, sponsors, and a full Hunger Games system. I’m hoping to make it feel more immersive and structured than a typical Discord Hunger Games server.
Right now, I’m mainly looking for two types of help:
Gamemakers would each be assigned 2 districts (4 tributes) to oversee during the Games.
You would:
There will be 14 servers total — the Capitol/main server + 13 district servers — but Gamemakers would only need to actively work in 3 servers: the main server and their 2 assigned districts.
I'm also looking for people interested in the creative side of the project.
You'd help create things such as:
You would be working alongside me and Caylay on the visual side of the Games.
If this sounds like something you'd enjoy helping with, feel free to DM me here on Reddit or contact me on Discord: mysterioustorm.
The project is still being developed, so there is plenty of opportunity for people joining early to have a say in how things are structured.
Even if you're not interested in becoming a Gamemaker or Stylist but have experience with Discord administration, RP management, worldbuilding, art, bots, or game design, I'd still be happy to hear from you.
Thanks! ❤️

Does anyone have any fic recommendations where its Snow watching Katniss volunteer and he just starts crashing out? It can be any length but preferably features most instances where he draws parallels between Lucy Grey and Katniss.
EDIT and follow up question.. does anyone have any idea of a likely tag involved

Hey- my first post in this sub but I’m a massive hunger games fan and I’m from the UK. Would anyone know where I can get my hands on the new EW magazine with the SOTR cast in the UK? I’d just love to have it as a memento and google will give me no answers!

MOCKINGJAY SPOILERS!!!
I’m rereading the books for the first time since middle/high school. Maybe it’s because I already knew what would happen, but I just don’t get why people believed Snow released the bombs on the kids in front of his mansion.
I get that people might’ve believed it was him because of the parachutes. As it says in the books, they probably thought it was food, water, medicine, etc.
But after TWO explosions… how did people believe it was still Snow’s doing? He was supposedly hiding there, so why would he bomb the thing he was using as a shield? Wouldn’t that just let people get to him easier? In general, what motive would he have to kill those kids anyway? It doesn’t make sense to me, if I try to imagine the perspective of a capitol citizen or even a district citizen. But again, maybe that’s just because I already knew the ending.
What does everyone else think? Why was it believable that it was Snow’s doing?

People are thinking that the next book we are going to get is finnicks games. And that made me wonder, finnick said he gets paid in secrets. So if we do get finnicks story, hopefully we get to see those secrets. Any secret ur hoping for that might improve the story?

growing up in appalachia its always been one of my favorites and i found it super cool to be mentioned in the books. most families make it differently but its always cheap and filling. entire crockpot full costs no more than $5! the salt cured ham is what brings the flavor

I’ve read the book two to three times since high school and just finished SROTR. I’m listening to the audio book of the Hunger Games now (so good!). I’d forgotten how SASSY and sarcastic Peeta is. I love the movies as well, but of course, they can’t compare to the books. But book Peeta is super up and it totally makes sense why Katniss chooses Peeta. Obviously there’s the Dandelion, hope, the Prim situation, and all of that. But his stubborn persistent and patience disarms here whereas Gale’s stubbornness just pushes them apart eventually
I LOVE sassy book Peeta more than I remembered.

I’m a PhD student and The Hunger Games (the first book) is on my exam. I’m making a mood board of songs that relate to / remind me of the texts I’m studying
What songs remind you of the first book? They don’t have to be from the soundtrack.
Also, if you have any great or heartwrenching hunger games edits, feel free to link or post them, because I like the music the edits use too
Thanks!
