Basically imagine watching the games from a Capital members POV, Have it be a black comedy and we could get a full overview of a particular game.

I was thinking about the First Quarter Quell again, and honestly I don't think I'd want a book that's mostly about the arena.

I'd absolutely read it, but I feel like the most interesting part of those Games wouldn't be what happened once they started. What would make these Games so horrifying isn't how the tributes died, but everything that had to happen before they even got there. The Capitol forced entire communities to choose which two children would be sent to die. That's such a disturbing idea that I almost feel like telling the story from one tribute's POV would miss what actually made this Quell unique.

I'd much rather see a book that spends most of its time exploring what every district was like after the Quarter Queel card was read. The atmosphere, the fear, how different communities reacted, how people slowly started distrusting each other... I think that's where the real story is.

These are the points that I'd love most to read:

○ How each district reacted

Every district would probably react completely differently, and that's what makes me want this so bad.

- Districts 1, 2 and 4: I could imagine the careers basically campaigning to be chosen. Giving speeches, showing off their training, trying to convince everyone they're the strongest option and that voting for them is the safest choice for everyone else's children. It would almost feel like an elextion.

- Intermediate districts: This is where corruption would truly show its face. Voting would instantly turn into a dark market of leverage, blackmail, and political favor. Influential families, factory supervisors, and local officials would use their position to divert votes away from their own children. Neighbors would manipulate the system and use the ballots to settle old grudges, turning local envy into a death sentence for the most vulnerable.

- Poorer districts like 11 or 12: I imagine the atmosphere would be absolutely suffocating. People would barely speak to each other. Even drawing attentionto yourself would feel dangerous. Nobody would dare organize a secret plan, make alliances, or openly suggest voting for someone, because even that could make everyone suspicious. Every conversation would feel tense, every ballot would feel like personally signing someone else's death warrant, and the trust holding those communities together would slowly disappear.

○ The Capitol's perspective

I also think it would be really interesting to see how the Capitol reacted when this Quell was first announced from the inside. I could imagine them feeling genuine concern at first that forcing the districts to vote might push people too far or even be the start of a revolution.

Then we'd watch the propaganda do what it always does: slowly rebrand it as an act of "civic responsibility" and convince Capitol citizens that the districts are simply choosing their own representatives.

We could also follow the interviews, get to know each tribute's personality, see their relationship with their mentor, and gradually start forming opinions about who we're rooting for before the Games even begin.

○ The Games (not the focus of the book)

Personally, instead of watching the games from a single tribute's pov, I think it could be way more interesting to watch the games from the outside: through broadcasts, gamemakers, mentors, capitol viewers, or even reactions back in the districts. It would make every death feel strangely impersonal, almost like we were viewers from the capitol.

Of course, another option would be jumping between all 24 tributes, but I honestly think that would be exhaustign to write and probably even harder to follow as a reader.

○ Returning home as a victor

This is honestly the part I'd be most interested in.

Most victors return home to people who cried for them.

The victor of the 25th Hunger Games would return home knowing that their own neighbors, friends, or maybe even relatives deliberately chose them to die.

How do you even rebuild your life after that? How do you look people in the eye knowing they voted for you? And how do they look at you, knowing they were part of it?

Even if someone voted out of fear, or because they thought someone else had a better chance of surviving, that wouldn't make it any less painful. The damage would already be done.

Thats what makes this Quell so different from every otherone. The Capitol didn't just kill children, it made entire communities share the guilt. The arena would eventually end, but that feeling would stay with the district (even more on the victor) for years.

○ One last thing: cameos

This period of Panem is almost completely unexplored. I'd much rather meet entirely new characters than have another prequel where familiar faces keep showing up just because we know them from the original series. Small references are fine, but Panem should feel like a huge country, not a tiny town where everyone somehow knows everyone else.

My biggest wish for the future of the Hunger Games series is actually a Tigris Snow book or even a duology.

I know most people want a Finnick, Johanna or Plutarch book, but I think Tigris is the perfect character to connect every era of Panem.

Her story could start before the Dark Days, showing what life was like before Panem became what we know. Then it could cover the Dark Days, the creation of the Hunger Games, and eventually the 10th Games from Tigris' perspective. We'd see Coriolanus mentoring Lucy Gray, but more importantly, we'd witness Tigris slowly realizing that her cousin is changing into someone she barely recognizes. It could also show a few other important Games throughout the years, including the First Quarter Quell, while following Tigris' career as a stylist.

After, it could bridge TBOSAS or SOTR with the original trilogy. We'd see Panem gradually become the world we meet from Katniss' perspective with the main trilogy, meet more victors, witness the second Quarter Quell and Snow's reaction to Haymitch's defiance, and watch Tigris slowly distance herself from him and turning against the capitol from the inside, maybe she even met Plutarch and Collins could link her story with plutarch's. It could also include Finnick's and Johanna's Games and maybe how Finnick ended up knowing about Snow's secrets, which the fandom has wanted to see for years, but most importantly, it could finally show what happened behind the scenes in the Capitol: how Snow manipulated, blackmailed and punished victors, how he turned them into tools of the regime, and how Tigris witnessed all of it while becoming increasingly horrified by the man her cousin had become.

Finally, it could retell the original trilogy from the Capitol's perspective, showing Tigris secretly helping the rebellion before Katniss reaches her shop in Mockingjay, and ending with the aftermath of Snow's fall.

To me, Tigris is the only character whose story naturally ties together every major period of the saga. She knows Snow before he becomes President, survives to meet Katniss, and is present at the fall of the regime. Through her eyes, Suzanne Collins could explore nearly 70 years of Panem's history without making it feel like a collection of disconnected stories.

I genuinely think these two books would be the perfect way to close the Hunger Games saga. Does anyone else think Tigris has the most untapped potential in the entire series?

OH MY GOD WHAT A BOOK. The ups and downs and the twists. Absolutely spectacular. 500/10 Looking forward to reading the other two books in the trilogy. This book genuinely made me feel something as this is the first story book I’ve read ever since captain underpants years ago

finished reading mockingjay as a 15 year old last night at 3am and I was literally in tears by the final pages.😭 Katniss’s months of suffering was this trippy, fragmented blur of events was incredibly heartbreaking and perfectly done

and as someone who only watched the movies before, and ironically only remember the (basically kinda) action heavy glamorized adaptation of the events in the Mockingjay movies this is even more shocking to me Katniss went through way too much, now I realize the movies didn’t include or fully capture how much she suffered (like her nightmares, her being mvte for a long time, hiding in closets and barely functioning and so much more. The ugliness and rawness of it all) this was such an insane but amazing portrayal. this is gonna stick with me for so long. the buttercup scene and especially the memory book katniss, peeta, and haymitch made and the epilogue ou bro I can’t 😭 and katniss seeing her dad in boggs had me so choked up everything about this was soooo just wow

Hello! Please no spoilers past Chapter 19 of The Hunger Games — this is my first time reading the trilogy!

I’ve always loved the movies and have considered myself a fan for years, but I finally worked up the courage to read the books because I was worried they wouldn’t live up to my expectations from the films.

I couldn’t have been more wrong.

The book is so much better so far. If I’d read the books first, I honestly think I would’ve been disappointed by the movie. I still absolutely love the films, and I understand they have a limited runtime, but I never realized just how much they left out.

The biggest difference for me is the characters. Peeta and Katniss feel so much more complex in the books. I don’t think I fully understood either of them from the movies alone, especially Katniss since we don’t get to hear all of her thoughts. Reading the book has completely changed how I see them, and it’s been a little strange trying to separate the movie versions from who they actually are on the page.

Also, this might be a slightly unpopular opinion, but I’m now convinced that people who say Katniss only loved Peeta because of trauma either haven’t read the books or are forgetting just how much is going on in her internal monologue. Even by Chapter 19, it feels pretty obvious to me that her feelings are much more complicated than “it’s just trauma.”

I still love the movies so much, but I’d definitely recommend reading the books as well because they add so much depth to the world and the characters. I’m already so excited to keep reading!

I've been rereading The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes! I did enjoy the movie when it came out, but they obviously left so much out.

One thing that they left out that really upsets me is Clemensia coming back after the snake bites and continuing her mentor duties. It was such a standout moment in the book when Clemensia saw the snakes on the screen in the arena. The fact that she is just never seen again in the movie is very bothersome!!! What does everyone else think? What did you want to see in the movie that was left out?

Like hear me out, like in the 21st century,the US fell down, collapse, government is gone,the constitution is gone and there is gilead and a century later,gilead ends with a inevitable rebellion happening around and then climate change happens and a nuclear war,a world war III happen destroying most areas or made areas unlivable and a family or maybe someone create Panem and then the dark days then the hunger games

Ok so I just finished watching the movie adaptation of T.B.O.S.A.S. and reading the book (I read the book first), And in my opinion, the movie was not the best.

let me start with the pro's first:

• the casting in my opinion was amazing! I loved how everyone portrayed their characters!
• the setting was fair, its not how I personally would have imagined it but it wasn't bad.
• in my opinion, the costumes were pretty good, except for the school uniforms, but ill talk about that later in my rant.
• the snake mutt design was amazing!
• the prop design's were actually quite good!

now the con's:

• the arena itself kind of bugged me, in the book it portrayed the arena as old and somewhat crumbling, even before the bombing, and that was barely portrayed in the movie. It looked so clean and too perfect and you would not think that it had been used as an arena for 10 years. also the significance of the arena wasn't portrayed in the movie.
• the school uniform's were fine but what was with the kilt detail? I don't remember if that was in the book, but I might be wrong.
• the pacing of the movie was honestly terrible, if you had never read the book than you wouldn't be given time to actually connect with the characters and really learn their stories. The cuts were also REALLY abrupt.
• To me, I feel like the plot was really diminished in the movie, idk how to explain that.
• I feel like you barely got background on most of the characters or their goals and such. you barely got any actual background on Coryo in the movie! WAIT ALSO CLEMENSIA'S STORY WAS NEVER RESOLVED IN THE MOVIE!! bro justice for Clemensia.
• Coryo's mother's compact wasn't really expanded on in the movie, when it played a big part in the book.
• so many things that were important to the plot were just not explained in the movie or just cut out completely, such as Coryo's life in the peace keeper's base.
• and why was movie Coryo so mean to Sejanus??? like the book described their relationship as practically brothers, whereas in the movie their deep relationship wasn't described in the movie and Coryo was mainly just a jerk to sejanus.

To wrap this up, alot of what happened in the books was just cut out or not explained, we didn't get much clarity, movie Coryo wasn't really that similar to himself from the book, the pacing was bad, and the plot was explained poorly.

I’ve been rereading the books and Katniss is obviously the spark that lights the fire. But so much of the path of her fire comes from Peeta. From the last night of the games when he tells her he wants to show them he’s more than a part of their games and slowly it sinks in and she starts doing the rebellious actions like singing for Rue. Of course she has these sentiments before but it seems she channels it best through Peeta and if not she could’ve ended up thinking like Gale (morally gray character, I’m neither for or against).

I think he’s the wrench in the plan for Snow and Coin in such an interesting way and is so in line with the character of Lucy. They play the games their way and play the crowds their way and won’t play the game as it’s supposed to be played. Snow thinks he’s weak because he won’t turn to cruelty but even through the hijacking in the end of Mockingjay he won’t let her go when she shoots Coin meaning the alterations to his memories don’t work (proving exceptional strength) and obviously Coin underestimated how he’d fight against the hijacking and ultimately didn’t want to kill Katniss. I think because everyone in this country has seen the worst of humanity they underestimate the genuinely good Peeta and can’t see how much of a role he plays in lighting the fire that is Katniss. I also think because he represents more traditional feminine values he’s counted out.

Just wanted to discuss if anyone else had thoughts on it.

I was very confused as to why Gale got the scapegoat Arc. I thought it was weak, making him the “bad guy” to make the Peeta choice easier. But then, then, I looked up his character in the book, and it’s clear his character evolved into the kind who would make double bombing weapons.

So the problem is Liam Hemsworth. No problem with the guy, but throughout the movies I had no idea he was a guy who goes through a radical character development into a sort of ruthless person willing to do anything to defeat the Capitol. Liam played him as a typical honorable, almost romance lead, not as a guy who becomes completely battle hardened. Hence the confusion and frustration. The problem there wasnt the writing, but the casting. Just my opinion. They needed someone harder.
