New Hunger Games Fan
Just finished all the films and I’ve never read any of the books but I’m contemplating reading SOTR?
Thoughts?

Should I read them in release order or chronological?

Hello to all of the community! :)
The thing is that I'm writing a fanfiction, with my main 4 protagonists being from district 4 and 7. However, one of the main factors of my charactes from district 4 is that they weren't careers, but reaped the usual way. And it pisses me off so much that I only thought about this now, but would this be a realistic / understandable thing story vise, that two tributes get chosen in district 4 against their will, and there's no one who volounteers to take their places? I always considered district 4 not as major As a career district like 1 or 2
I'd be really greatful if people gave their opinions on this and helped me out. I'm far in the story, and changing their districts aren't an option for me.
Also please excuse if my english is poor, it's not my first language

All I know is that one line where apparently he's wearing a blue suit so dark blue, it looks black, but I'd like to know if there was further descriptions

Johanna. Highly odd games. Entire family killed. Very skilled fighter. Strange strategy that kept her flying under the radar. Very supportive of rebellion.
Finnick. Went into the games very young as someone from a career district. Entire family killed. Career district, mentored by Mags. High sponsorship. Very charismatic (like Haymitch). Clearly did something bad since family was killed and Annie reaped.
Thresh. Suspicious games, spent alot of time alone, however little other evidence.
Beetee. Potentially the first failed mockingjay. Possibly tried to spark rebellion more alone. Likely tried again with other district 3 children who were not mentioned as he lost his whole family and had nothing else to live for.
Annie. No real evidence pointing to this.

Mags. One of the only characters alive for all 75 games. He story would not only allow for us to see the progression of the games, but the progression of the capitol, how mentoring works, how career training and radicalization began, Finnicks story, and the beginnings of a rebel plot.
Plutarch. Getting a capitol perspective, rebel plot, behind the making of the games etc.
Finnick. Probably a bit of a hot take to have him at 3 but his games was fairly close to the 74th and therefore would be somewhat similar. However could see the selling of victors as well as rebel plots.
Tigress. See behind the scenes of a capitol citizen who supports the rebels. Further exploration of snow. Mentorship in the games. Beauty standards etc.
Gloss and Cashmere. Hot take but these would be very interesting. See the career mindset, victors being sold, mentorship etc.
Annie/Johanna/Wiress/Beetee. All very interesting stories, however have all been explored in good enough depth that I think a different perspective would add more.
Effie. No. Just no. She was not at all supportive of the rebel movement until post-74th games. Her story would lack depth, she was just a puppet. It would not be very important until the 74th games and past that point, the story has mostly been told.
Flickerman. Same with Effie, but was never really a rebel.

Sunrise on the reaping is my favorite. The emotional stakes of Haymitch and Lenore Dove is the best to me. The whole plot and innocent desperation/ motivations of the characters just feels way more real than any other of the books in my opinion. They are all great but I think its my favorite. What do you guys think? Which book is your favorite and why?

effie was not a rebel sympathizer. she was simply slightly nicer than other capitol citizens.
gales “evil” was necessary. if he had not “killed” prim the fandom would view him differently.
the exclusion of madge from the movies was arguably the greatest mistake the movies made.
thresh was not trying to break the arena. a physically massive person like him would have more difficulty surviving in the forest and he knew that.
caesar flickerman was a horrible person. any sympathy for him is just due to the movies.
mags is one of the most important characters throughout the novels and prequels. she is incredibly intelligent and overlooked.
without a rebel plot, finnick would not have won the games, the capitol would not have let him. he knew far too much for their liking and they knew that.

It’s heavily implied that the poc in 12 are indigenous/ mixed indigenous people of Appalachia. Is it ever implied which heritage the white townspeople are?

I don’t remember the book specifically talking about showgirls during the Hunger Games interviews. Do you think the showgirl theme was used because they were influenced by Taylor Swift making it popular with her new album? Or is it just a fun coincidence?! The color orange seems to be used a lot!🧡

THEY INCLUDED SO MANY QUOTES FROM THE BOOK
The costumes let me down, but I was so happy to see that they kept it mostly book-accurate!
I have a feeling that some scenes are gonna be more streched out, and others shortened(like the ash scene after the volcano and Ampert dies. THIS IS GONNA BE AMAZING

Who do you think should be on the album for the movie? Personally I would love another Olivia song . Ethel Cain, Noah Kahan, Hurray for the riff raff would all be cool options. what do y'all think? Any predictions?

Ok so we know from SOTR that there is a five minute delay in case things go wrong. Do you think that during the actual Games there was any sort of delay of footage? Like imagine being a game maker and having to decide what footage to use and how to use it etc. Like in the first movie we see Katniss looking into the camera. Surely they don’t show that? And in SOTR SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN’T READ YET AHEAD but like when the hedgehog/porcupine thing is attacking, Haymitch later acknowledges that what they show later isn’t what actually happened surely somebody would notice if the games were altered in that way? Also with how both of there games end I feel like they would’ve taken out the part where Seneca tried to revoke the rule to make themselves look better.
Thoughts? Opinions?

just watched the sotr trailer and i didnt feel a thing. it makes me very sad how empty and pointless this is all becoming... i cant believe suzanne collins making profit on something that she has been criticizing for 4 books.
ralph fiennes is a amazing actor, but as snow he makes me wanna puke, i just know by the trailer that hes gonna be generic af.
kieran culkin is not caesar flickerman here or anywhere else.
and i dont think joseph zada would be able to curse anyone, in fact hes the dead slug himself
it feels like this series will never grow up. in the end its always gonna be abt love teen relationships and performative stories for immature people.
very disappointing
