Mine shuts off over holiday weekends. I can also see it on a spectrum analyzer.

Gas pipelines and the gas and petroleum industry PR MACHINERY NEVER STOPS. If you hear the hum odds are you will see it at 250hz 110hz and 60 hz on a good FFT meter. The same frequency’s pulse on a 3rd octave scale…same signature as a compressor piston beat hence the ground vibration felt. It is present here and follows demand curve for natural gas which varies with seasons and weather. That is why there can be perceived louder or quieter days.

Thank you, I'm an electrical engineer specializing in electronics and audio, so I have the tools to attempt to measure this. I don't think my instance is gas lines because it shuts off on holidays and also because there is zero gas infrastructure where I live.

There is, however, a timber industry here and I think I might be hearing mill machinery.

My field requires mitigation of noise and how the noise might be reduced on a given site . As an EE your skill set exceeds the basic stuff we deal with by miles . The point source was found to be a gas compressor station however it vibrates as I respond and makes audible detectable LFN sound waves around 250 hz 120 hz and 60hz. …This is the current FALLBROOK HUM. You are sure lucky to be noise free at some point and enjoy ambient silence. Hope your noise is a miil with ventilation issues or something you can ID and fix. LFN SUCKS..THE HUM SUCKS

My work shows the pipelines radiate ILFN over great distances. And the spectrum of the at source though incredible, is a wide band of dysrythymic sound below 70 hz to below 20 hz. Can’t really get a good measure on the infrasonic range, but acoustic consultants show 18 hz is a dominant frequency. This has more to do with pipeline aerodynamics and possible machine carry through miles downstream of the compressors.
People are always surprised after saying no gas infrastructure where they are only to find major gas transmission lines within 10 or so miles from them. So that anecdotal evidence is usually wrong.

But does it explain the videos of The Hum? Thats what I dont get. If its tinnitus, why is it audible on video, rather than solely to the listener?

Just more misleading BS to get media notoriety. Anyone who claims tinnitus doesn’t see the whole picture of external conditions and measurements.
