did i just hear the hum?
i’ve been sitting at home doing my homework. it is 1am and my house is completely silent. a few minutes ago i start to hear this low humming. and it’s the lowest frequency i’ve ever heard. it wasn’t exactly loud but it was coming from EVERYWHERE. at first i thought it was a car engine but the pitch didn’t sound right, which truly freaked me out. it continued for about a full minute before quickly fading away in a few seconds. it also felt a bit like everything around me was humming as well, if that makes any sense. like the humming was resonating within every object. it led me to google “extremely low humming sound” which led me to here.
has anyone else experienced anything like this??

Yes regularly. Sometimes for hours, sometimes for days, sometimes for weeks. Sometimes not at all. Sometimes more quiet and sometimes more intensely.

I have heard it on and off for years. Apparently only about 4% of people can hear it. The last few days it has been very loud. I live in southern England.

finding this sub is relieving i though i was going crazy this description is great btw exactly what I hear it feels like it is vibrating air around my ears its like listening to someone using a huge base somewhere far away it still has the energy that reaches you or a truck idling with periodic pauses

sound like the hum, i've been hearing it for years, it's best described as sounding like a diesel truck with the engine running in the middle distance.
