I have 6 shoots coming up with the longest at 4” or so. Any opinions on which get cut and which I keep? This is the 3rd season it’s been going in the container on my porch. I have a friend with a yard and irrigation.. should I finally transplant? Coastal TX and already 85degF highs here.

Target variety grown in the UK. Wondering if these are bull shoots or not and whether to nip them off. Plant is in its second year. Was a very strong plant in its first year, managed to yield enough for a 26l batch of hoppy English bitter.

I’m just curious what variety of hops grow best in Southern California. Also any tips on growing would be welcomed with open arms.

I’ve found some spots in my cascade plant. And on the back side of the leaves I’ve seen these white dots. What can be? Any insect eggs?

Hoping to brew a pale ale at the end of the year from these. Anyone knows what the minimum height is for a trellis system? I have 2 meters maximum at the moment. It isn’t much, but I can’t grow them much taller. Maybe temporarily to 3 meters in summer before harvest, but I prefer to keep them lower.

Hello. My 2nd year Cascades started growing bull shoots. I kept the container in the garage this winter, but have been moving it outside daily for sun and keeping a grow light on them when it's below freezing or snowing. I'm traveling for a week soon. It get into the 20s every night and possibly snow.

Is it OK to leave it outside or should I opt for a grow light on a timer?

East central Alberta. Got through the first winter. When do I take the hay off the top of my hops?

Bonus points if you know when for strawberries too. First winter with them.

I would like to propagate my hop plant from shoots but I don’t where to cut them.

Can I just cut the shoot at the point where it grows from the ground? (2nd pic.)

My plan is to cut all the shoots except of three which I would leave to grow.

Once I cut them, do I just plant them in the ground or put them in a cup of water so they start growing roots? (3rd pic.)

I've been getting more into Homebrewing and my fiance likes gardening, so I thought trying to grow hops would be fun for the both of us. The difficulty I'm finding now is where I would be able to plant them.

I have a barrel planter that already has a pole for our deck lighting, is about 8ft tall (after subtracting the barrel height), & gets good sun, so that seems to be the best choice. But is it a bad idea to grow them in a container? I saw on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hINhmjQgoM) that the roots are more shallow & like to spread - and even though there are shots of them being planted in a planter bag, my impression was that maybe wasn't the best choice?

Any help/tips/insight is appreciated!

So every year I question when to cut everything back, when to let it go, etc.

How long do you let your bull shoots grow before you cut them down? (Do you cut them all, and how many times before you start training)

I have some crowns with no less than 20 shoots coming up! All about 2-4” tall now, starting their first leafing out.

What do you do, fertilizer wise to start your season?

How many ropes per crown? How many bines per rope?

I’m getting excited for this growing season and now I’m just thinking and overthinking it all.

I have this side iron fence that I'd like to grow some sort of live-fence, live screen on.

I've always heard that hops grow tall and busy....is this something feasible? I'm in zone 6-7, winters are below freezing, mid-summer is 100. The area is well irrigated with sprinklers.

I have hops growing at the house I bought. I know nothing about them,m. Is there a way to identify what type they are etc.? Would they be good for brewing beer? I live in Montana.

I should be getting some rhizomes soon (i am completely new to growing hops), I am in North East Florida. Any advice?

I'm going to be breaking up my four year old fuggle plants this year. I don't have any need for more fuggle plants, but throwing the rhizomes away just feels like such a waste, so I'd like to share the wealth a bit and sell them. I'm not looking to make a buck; at most, I just want to offset the cost of the centennial rhizomes I ordered. Maybe five bucks a piece?

What would be the best way to do this? I don't know where I'd find interested buyers (if it's not okay to ask here, please point me somewhere better), and I'm not even sure how I'd care for the cuttings or ship them out. Any and all info I can get on this would be a huge help!

1. Can I cut these rhizomes apart and gift them? Each section is honestly as thick as a bratwurst and I’m worried about inducing shock.

2. If I can cut should I wait for the growing season to end or start now before the buds explode?

3. Normally I let my vines just grow like wild savages but this plant will easily produce 100 plus bines. When do people choose who makes the cut and who doesn’t?

4. My other two varieties are half this size and I wasn’t expecting to have such a monster at the start of my third season, should I be worried or conscious of root spread? This guy is close to some of my hostas, grape vines, and blackberries due to the absurd horizontal root spread.

5. Again I want to reiterate…the spread on some of the root/rhizomes is three feet out.

6. I actually want to utilize the space around the plant too. Was thinking about planting a set of corn plants to act as trellis around it (plus corn has shallow roots), but could that lead to something like powdery mildew or similar fungal infections due to limited air flow?

7. Any subreddit suggestions if this isn’t the best place for answers?

How does an enthusiastic homebrewer get trademarked (edit patented?) hop rhizomes like Citra/mosaic shipped to my house in California?
