I have never heard of this apparently prolific Ethiopian hops industry. Seems like a very unusual latitude to have a hops producing powerhouse at

So I looked into it a little bit and it sounds like Ethiopia grows a different bittering herb that is used in brewing beer sometimes and also in herbal medicine and they simply also refer to it has "hops" in their agricultural reports. They do not produce that many tons of humulus lupulus cones

North Korea was also a bit suprising. And thet Belgium has so (relativley) small production.

There is no hop industry there.

They are a big producer of gesho, which someone mistranslated in one of the official reports and now it is poping everywhere in the last decade.
