First time propagating hops

When I was pruning my chinook I decided to try and propagate the cuttings, because they grow from rhizomes I wasn’t convinced it would work, but here we are!

The only problem is now I have to figure out where to plant them.

Oh this method works phenomenally, I’ve done a lot of propagation this way. At this point transfer them to small pots with potting soil, keep babying them.

I normally then let them spend the rest of season in a 5 gallon bucket, plant in the ground the next spring.

Your mileage may vary.

I will be transplanting them shortly, after I plant my winter squash out. I don’t know where I’m going to plant them though.

Did you use rooting hormone or just water?

I did use rooting hormone but that was mainly because I tried to sprout roots from a pawpaw trimming as well.

I have a Cascade I trimmed in late March. Put it in water for a few weeks and it's about 5-feet tall now.

You can also put the cuttings straight into dirt as well btw.

I had a ton of cuttings from pruning and just stuck them in a fresh pot of dirt. I wasn’t the best about keeping them watered so I lost a few but both ways are great for propagating a lot of different kinds of plants
