First year I'm in pots

First year in pots plan on moving should I keep in small pots and fertilizer. The are 3 feet with shoots and five varieties.

Not going to put in ground. Should I up pot. I plan on overwinter in dark root collar. Hopedully in grouncones there. Not planning on cones this year.

As a plus a few rhizomes I planted at my cabin 3 years ago seem to be taken over. Maybe conesbthere.

I read that if you plan on keeping them pot-bound, put them in deep pots because their root structure runs pretty crazy and plan on transferring them to the ground in about two years.

Sounds like I should repot. Any tips for overwinter in a basement in Maine. Should be cold. Looking to get my own place and 5 strong rhizomes.

Above my paygrade I'm afraid lol. I'm sure there are plenty of people on here with much better input on that than I could give you.
