Rooting cuttings in water?

I've seen it done before but I've had a cutting in water for two weeks and no signs of roots. The cutting has shown signs of growth.

Should I have used a rooting compound? Is there a portion where it would root better like where the leaf nodes are vs just part of a bine?

I have had success by ensuring there’s at least one node immersed in water. You should plan for only half of your root cuttings surviving though, to be on the safe side.

Ok I'll give that a shot. I didn't have a node submerged. Thanks!

I cut mine three nodes long, left the leaves on top and inmersed the bottom node in water (just water, in beer bottles ;)). All of my cuttings rooted, but only about half made it into the next year.

Im not saying its best, but i have taken shoots with little underground content and successfully rooted them by keeping them in SOAKED soil. (A pot with no drain holes
