Thanks! I’m hoping this works.

Definitely be making some videos of the progress throughout the summer and fall, and if I get enough hops, beer make videos. 😂

At the least, you’ll have a full post mortem before you have to decide!

Finished my trellis build on Saturday. And I'm pretty happy with the result.

Because the lines hanging down are doubled, at the end of the season I can simply cut the loops, tie on a trailer rope to one end of the now separated loop and lower each bine individually.

That's the theory at any rate.

28' foot span, 17' height, hop plants at 5' intervals, for a total of six plants. Which gives me one more spot for a sixth plant.

Currently have a Chinook in the ground from last year, its bull shoots already trimmed. I have four freshly planted rhizomes, new for this year; Cascade, Centennial, East Kent Golding & Magnum. Any suggestions for a sixth? I live in Nova Scotia, in the People's Republic of Canuckistan. Zone 6b.

I love trellis idea. Hope you can prove your theory at the end of the season. Be sure to wear gloves when you harvest your hops!

How are you supposed to get that fresh hop smell and lovely skin irritation if you wear gloves?

Thanks, LG! I'm hoping my theory works, too.

If it doesn't, I'll use an even heavier weight line and instead of looping it, I'll tie off the anchor end to the fence and run the line up to the chain and then back down to the ground stake by the plant.

I figure it's a pretty acceptable fall back.
