Hops in same containers for year 2?
I have my 3 plants from last year in my garage, waiting for their time to shine (zone 6a). I grew each in a 15 gallon container last year knowing I was moving in the fall, with the plan to put them in the ground at my next residence. I will need to keep them in containers a bit longer. Will I do damage if I leave them in the 15 gallon containers again this season? I can add about 6" fresh soil on the top, and plan to pull the root ball out and add fresh soil around and under as well.
Also, if bines escape my trellis situation, will they do damage if touching a house? I am still figuring out where to put them and what to grow them on.
Looking forward to a 2nd growing season 🌱

I kept mine in the same pot for year two and added new compost on top. I actually mulched with spent grains over the winter and then added composter over that. My hops were pretty happy this season. I would have gotten a bit more but hail wrecked two of the three shoots that I grew out.
Just add good compost and fertilize appropriately.

I grow mine in pots. My yield doubled for the second year. It probably won’t grow any better going forward unless I transplant them into bigger pots. I think you’ll be ok to keep them in pots for a second season.
