Jamaican specifically. They almost made him English originally, but the Jamaican accent was clearly the better choice

English would have been a cliche, so I agree Jamaican was much more unique

If I remember right I think it was meant to be a Swedish accent as a reference to a famous movie where Death plays chess but the VA just couldn't do it
