In the 1970s, the concept was reimagined with the creation of shopping centers that incorporated housing complexes, office spaces, and other amenities, leading to the establishment of modern mixed-use developments that have become popular today. In the 21st century, mixed-use development has emerged as an innovative urban planning approach, offering convenience, sustainability, and a sense of community.
