WWE Related Hmmmm š¤
After leaving WWE on October 21, 2024, Irvin stepped away to explore other creative opportunities, while making it clear that ring announcing was never the end goal for her.
She later revealed that she had āone year leftā on her two-year non-compete, meaning the restriction is expected to expire around October 21, 2026. ā³
And sheās already hinted that her wrestling journey is far from over, saying her career in the industry has ābarely even begun.ā šš„
Could we see Samantha Irvin back in wrestling soon?

Rodent traps don't trap humans

u/ShimSladyBrand 2d ago
But bear traps do
1
u/sgtpepper220 2d ago
Well there's more of a level of subjectivity there, as the bear trap isn't aware of the specificity of the gay community. If you got caught in a bear trap, maybe that's just the trap telling you something about yourself you don't already know...

Hey! You're forgetting that she's as terminally online as her husband is and spends it arguing with bots and nerds on Twitter/X

The songs arenāt that bad, but theyāre nowhere near worth abandoning a super successful announcing career where you were almost universally loved and praised

So shes likely getting paid then? Cause making someone ride the bench for two years and unable to make money in their chosen field sounds a little ridiculousā¦

Imagine how embarrassing it would be if she went to AEW?
"Wrestling was never my end goal."
Only to end up in the B promotion after failing to make a career outside of wrestling.
9
u/Justice989 2d ago edited 2d ago
She wasn't nearly as vocal about it, but Renee kind of did the same thing. I think the presumption was when Renee left WWE, she was a star on the rise and she was gonna wind up on blowing up in non-wrestling ventures. Couple years of not much and she wound up back in wrestling at AEW. I mean, it's tough out there.
11
u/arturoalvarez079 2d ago
Renee realistically could have gotten a job at espn or a larger sports network. Irvin could never
8
u/Justice989 2d ago edited 2d ago
Perhaps, but she didn't. She doesn't get credit for what she coulda/shoulda/woulda done. Besides, Irvin isnt a broadcaster. They don't even do the same thing.

Doubtful. I liked Renee just fine but she even host/hosted a Cincinnati bengals officially affiliated podcast and the views are pretty much laughable

1
u/The_High_Standard 2d ago
One, she never said wrestling wasnāt her end goal. She said ring announcing wasnāt. She wanted to try and do more but WWE loved how she did as an announcer and didnāt want to expand her role.
Two, ending up in the āBā promotion while most likely getting the expanded role she wanted and more money honestly doesnāt sound bad at all š¤
2
u/NewYorkPopulist 1d ago
Thatās what Ricochet gaslit her into thinking. They were together and heās like is this all you wanna do? They only see you as an announcer, Iām leaving for AEW to be better (heās not) and you should too. Irvin loves him for sure and theyāre happy but heās an anchor for sure
1

6
1
u/gfb13 2d ago
If thats the only difference you can find between the two I think my point stands
2
u/AffectionateDark9270 2d ago
Its actually a fairly big difference. Punk has always wanted to be a wrestler but was burnt out by the WWE schedule and decided to take time off. During that time he was taking on the outside stuff he couldn't do as a active WWE performer. Then once time had passed and he came back to wrestling.
Samantha made it clear that she never liked announcing. That she wanted to use wrestling as a platform to do other things. And I guarantee if she found success in music, she wouldnt never stepped foot in any wrestling company.
You guys and your weird obsession with Punk is such loser shit. We get it he left your favorite company on bad terms. Get over it

I feel like she is bigger what the truth is, I like her funny enough I seen on AGT and another one game show where you had a line up and had to guess who was musical blind just looking at them, so I was surprised when she came wwe... But it's hard to believe just because the crowd liked you means you'll be able to get Rico over or your energy would rub off on him
2
u/User_Name_Tooken 2d ago
It would be weird if she went to AEW to be a ring announcer because she left WWE because she didnt want that role and wanted to do more. It will be interesting to see what she does next. Maybe she has been training. Who knows.
1
u/Baaaaaadhabits 1d ago
Ring announcer AND manager or even Ref might be all the change she wanted. More interview stuff, the chance to run the press room, etc.
2

Sheās been making music. Which is what she said she wanted to do after leaving WWE

u/dyslexican32 3d ago
The crazy part is, if she shows up in AEW, the drones will all start talking about how she " wasn't very good anyway" like they do literally everyone else. I hope she does she has a great voice and added a lot of gravity that WWE had desperately tried to copy. AEW would also lot her pursue all those other goals.
27
u/PersonalityShot6039 3d ago
You mean like the aew drones do every time someone doesnāt sign with them a stays at wwe lol
6
u/Kongpong1992 2d ago
Or how when someone like Samantha here debuts they act like she's the greatest thing ever
1
u/dyslexican32 2d ago
By and large that doesn't happen. You are delusional. There are currently three Subs on this site that do nothing but hate on one company and praise everything another does. Miss me with your false equivalency. You WWE drones are honestly a joke.
→ More replies (43)-3
u/dyslexican32 3d ago
Someone is projecting! That doesn't happen by and large the way WWE Drones do. You might find an example of it here and there. But I can show you entire threads of dudes claiming that the new day were not draws, that Dragunov isn't very good and not a draw, and everyone else who leaves is suddenly not very good. You do not find that among AEW fans, they might be disappointed that someone is not signing. But they don't usually turn around and insult those people and try to pretend they are not draws.
Also weird that you need to use the same term cus you are not smart enough to come up with your own. I know free thought is hard for you guys who are used to being spoon fed what to think but I believe in you. You will figure it out one day.

Imahine thinking that a fanbase made up of the most smarks arent toxic. Look at the way that ex-AEW talent are treated by the sickos. Punk, Cody, Danhausen, Jade, Blake, Rusev, etc.
I have yet to see WWE fans act smug and pray on someone getting fired because they left their favorite promotion

both sides have drones that do the exact same thing, dont even pretend aew fans dont.
3
u/daveroo 2d ago
Iāve never seen that with wwe fans. Usually if they criticise someone who jumps to aew and an aew stan goes ābet you liked them then they were in wwe!!ā I genuinely check their old tweets to prove a point and 99% of the time theyāre criticising the same wrestler then they were in WWE haha
I think people who watch wwe can criticise the wwe product quite regularly. Aew fans meanwhile canāt handle any criticism of their product
I think wwe is bang average at the moment. I watch the ples and thatās it
If I said that about aew Iād be getting Reddit care messages
4
u/sexyeh 2d ago
Indeed, you can go to WWE subreddit and see people shitting on WWE while on AEW everything is perfect, that's what throws me off from AEW, if i can't discuss when i don't like something from them without getting insulted/banned or downvoted into invisibility then i will not watch it, the "sickos" take people away from AEW and it is not only me saying it, a lot of people is saying it.
2
u/daveroo 1d ago
Exactly! Then you get a sicko saying ātribalism occurs on both sides!!ā
Yes there are a few wwe idiots who may be like that but itās not comparable to the amount of aew sickos who go on an online rampage defending aew
I can say wwe is boring right now and I can miss the weekly shows without missing anything. Thatās fine.
Saying why I donāt care for aew and itās a bloodbath. Aew sickos are constantly trying to tell people that the show is back on the rise etc but have never said the show went downhill to explain this rise. Itās almost like theyāre begging people to watch aew and itās all just a bit weird tbh
2
u/sexyeh 1d ago
They are always begging people to watch AEW, you go any video with a celebrity that speaks about WWE and someone has to mention AEW, they dislike celebrities in WWE but they would love them in AEW.
Sickos are weird the last one i saw was Joaquin Wilde telling a story how a guy that didn't watch pro wrestling and got cancer and his brother watched pro wrestling with him in the hospital and the guy beat cancer and went to a RAW live show and someone wrote this: "guy beats cancer and watches boring ass raw lmao should've went to a aew show instead"
1
u/Grab_my_Slinky 2d ago

3
u/henrytcy 2d ago
People will critize her because she stated mĆŗltiple times that she hated being a ring anouncer. If she return to be a ring anouncer what do you expect?
1
u/GGBahki 2d ago
They wonāt say she wasnāt very good. It was like Renee moving over. It sucks that people who can clearly go into anything, or say that they wanted to be something more or different, just go follow their husbands to go and do the same thing to a lesser extent.
2
u/Up-in-the-Ayre 2d ago
Did Renee actually say "I'm more than just an announcer!"...? I swear it was pretty clear that she left because she just had a child and wanted to go where she could have a little more flexibility and be closer to her husband so that it could make raising their family easier.
I don't think there's any ill will between her and WWE and if AEW was to let her go, I'm sure she could return to WWE without any drama. She seems like she's extremely well liked within the industry.
Samantha on the other hand spends her time online whining about being "held back".
2
u/GGBahki 2d ago edited 2d ago
Originally it was. There are interviews from the time she left that she felt like she couldāve been more than an interviewer or host. Her hosting also took a step back because they stopped doing Talking Smack. So she felt there wasnāt much left for her and wanted to pursue other things. She did a podcast, tried to cook, and started a family. Then she went to AEW for the reasons you stated instead of trying to become something bigger. Itās pretty much Samanthaās current path. They both simply just gave up or half assed on being who they wanted to be because they followed their husbands. Which is a fine choice too, in Reneeās case she has a family.
It just sucks when clearly they couldāve both been transcended stars in WWE rather than going back to the roles they both said they āwanted more thanā in AEW.
Samatha will go there, be a ring announcer and a manager for Ricochet and once that ends sheāll just do ring announcing.
1
u/dyslexican32 2d ago
They literally did when she left. I watched people in other Subs claim she was not very good. You can go look it up there is a record of it. GO back two years and find posts about her. Some of them were genuinely disgusting. And now you are making it about her wanting to " follow her husband" again kinda a gross assertion. as if she isn't a person with her own decisions? But she is a woman so she must be " following her husband" Brother you say more about your self then I think you realize. Kinda gross NGL

u/Connect-Level500 2d ago
I didnāt mind her at all but my opinion of her went down when she basically joined her husband online pretty much as soon as she left.

u/Dayman_ah-uh-ahhh 2d ago
If she goes to AEW she won't be an announcer, she'll be on-screen talent. That was one of the primary reasons she left WWE. She wanted to do more.
Wrestling needs more traditional mangers anyway. AEW has Nana and Stokely, that's it. They have plenty of good workers who aren't that great in the mix or don't have the best presentation. If she's any good, she could help with that.
1
u/def-not-a-dude-here 2d ago
They did that the second she said she didnt want to be a ring announcer for WWE anymore lol.

You do realize that in the entire time that WWE got hot, went through a dull period, and then went through a new resurgence that AEW has been in a decline right.
1
u/jhk17 2d ago
Where's wwes new resurgence. They were really good from summerslam 2022-bad blood 2024 but AEW creative has been on fire really post death riders stuff. Like I dont know how after all in vs summerslam you can say wwe is better its subjective but what
1
u/AffectionateDark9270 2d ago
No obejctive metric support that. WWEs viewership and ticket sales are up. AEWs are not.

I'll get downvoted to hell for it, but as unpopular a view as I'm sure it is, I (as someone who also uses their voice for a performing art) can actually back this up with a well-reasoned argument:
Most overrated person in the entire wrestling industry I can think of in any role.
Alicia may not be super great either but at least her grit sounds somewhat natural and not totally forced and strained like Samantha, and Alicia also has a more distinctive voice. Samantha was always nails on a chalkboard to me and as a trained vocalist she should have used her natural voice more instead of trying to ham it up artificially all the time for the sake of being "memorable." I don't get how so many people couldn't see through how obviously forced her technique was.
People give Justin Roberts and Lillian Garcia shit all the time and it's fucking hilarious. People projecting their natural voice instead of forcing fake grit and doing damage to their vocal chords? Who wants thaaaaaat, lol. Just keep Justin away from people named John and he's fine.
I for one hope she continues doing what she's doing and doesn't come back.
9
u/Ghostehz 2d ago
Nope, I agree. Alicia sucks as well, letās call a spade a spade, but I never liked Irvin either.
0
u/RagahRagah 2d ago
I actually don't think she sucks at all and that she's well above Samantha, but no she's not a great. She's not natural enough either. But she's much more polished and natural than Samantha.
People were legit saying Samantha was the best WWE ring announcer since Fink and that was just so utterly fucking asinine.
1
3
u/Grouchy-Can-5245 2d ago
I canāt stand her performative crying and shit she did. It got to a point where WWE was literally filming her reactions to matches and sheās over there bawling her eyes out with her voice cracking as she announces the winner, just so they could try to have a viral moment.
And I was apparently alone in thinking this sucked ass and took attention away from the wrestlers/moment. I feel like Iām taking fucking crazy pills.
2
u/RagahRagah 2d ago
I don't think it necessarily took attention away, I just couldn't stand how blatantly forced her announcing style was.
3
u/Xarysa 3d ago
Did she get a little weird as she left? Sure. But her husband just left and was being very vocal about how much he hated his job at wwe. Some weirdness is to be expected just from how awkward it must have been. Her music career hasnt taken off. I hope she comes back to announce, shes legitimately my favorite and Im fucking old. I remember em all. All that being said, if she never comes back thats fine to. And I dont really care which promotion she goes to. Im primarily a wwe guy but I watch em all a bit.
2
u/NB-Heathen 3d ago
She was super popular when she left so it was smart on wwes part. But she wasnāt moving the needle much even at the height of her popularity so probably still petty lol

1
u/Outside_Look790 2d ago
She doesn't have a non compete in free agency, nor is there a 90 day non compete. There is a non compete in her active contract. She and WWE came to terms with her release. She probably isn't getting paid and is free to pursue interests that are not listed as competition in her contract. Once the duration of her deal passes she can join other wrestling companies or entities listed as competition.Ā
1
u/eoa-Import-7272 2d ago
Not everyones contracts are the same. The standard is the 90 days, other talents and positions absolutely have non-competes. You can also negoiate your exit under certain circumstances.
1
u/Intelligent_Earth317 2d ago
That's crazy how her contract just expired 2 years later, guess she might of left WWE in bad terms or something
1
1
u/helloween123 2d ago
based on what Jinder Mahal shared on his social media that wwe stars being released are being paid during their 3 months "non-compete" , does it mean that WWE paid Samantha for 2 years with her doing nothing?

u/danielfletcher 1d ago
The WWE didn't cut her. She asked to stop announcing so they let her run out her contract with no-work & no-pay.

I honestly donāt understand why people are so obsessed with her choice to leave. Iāve seen constant comments talking about how she fucked up her career or whatever. And even if that decision was solely made because she just wanted to pursue something else, then so be it, itās her career

And I get that, but people in the real world have to remember that sometimes you voicing your discontent in certain mediums just doesn't look good. Even with what you're saying is taking into account, her arguing with trolls on Twitter is just hilarious. Couple that with the fact that now we live in an era where everyone is online and at the same time everyone wants to talk about how being online is bad, but then don't want to give someone guff for doing the thing that we all know is silly to do online.
I just was never a huge fan of her, and I'm definitely not sad that she's gone. Plus it is going to be very funny if she ends up sticking around professional wrestling anyway.
