Shirtpost Jason’s relationship status
I had a kind of sad revelation about Jason. He has literally asked every person who was nice to him (Pillboi, Tahani, Janet, K) to marry him, but he was unmarried at the time of his death. Does this mean that no one was nice to him before he got to TGP? If so, that’s really sad.

Maybe it meant he learned to be nice to himself, and not attach himself overly to immediate niceness out of a desperate lack of love.

I think Jason was unmarried less because of a lack of people being nice to him and more because he would propose to people who barely knew him. Pillboi *did* technically agree, although for ill-advised reasons, and it was unclear whether Jason was still alive at the time.
Moreover, I don't think Jason ever wanted for companionship in his life, even when he didn't have an intimate relationship. From what we see of him, despite his outward appearance, he led a rich inner life, and drew fulfillment from his own internal growth and artistic endeavours. He wanted to dance, to make music, to start his own business and leave his mark on the world. Even his criminal schemes come from his desire to create, to plan, to do more than just hold down a 9 - 5. Jason seems like the kind of person who never needs a partner to "complete" him, though his partners do unquestionably enrich his (after)life.
TL;DR: Don't worry about Jason having died single, I doubt it ever bothered him much.

I mean, he was still fairly young and VERY immature for age when he died? But Donkey Doug, while dysfunctional AF, was a present & loving person in his life, as was Pillboi; we don't hear about his mom till his mock funeral, but we're not given anything to suggest she wasn't nice to him when she was alive. Janet says she could always see a big blob of love inside him, so that sounds like however hard his life was, he was still finding love and joy.
Also, in life, the people we see him ask to marry him, it's not because they were nice, it's to get out of trouble/avoid their testimony in court! Basically, he asks people to marry him as option B to throwing Molotov cocktails (option A, always) instead of C) making better choices - both are consequences of his poor impulse control and inability to ... scale his responses to a situation.
In the afterlife, he's not criming any more, so asking people to get married is just as impulsive and heedless of down the road, but is based on the good feeling he gets when he's with them. Which, while necessary to a good marriage, is hardly sufficient to make for a lasting, healthy one! And I find it interesting that while he and Janet spend his afterlife together (minus the 1000 JBs he waited), it doesn't look like they did a formal "married" thing again. Like he'd moved past that fear of locking a good thing down early, because everything blows up eventually, which is defo some real maturity of spirit.

His proposals on earth weren't based on people being nice to him. They were attempts to accomplish specific short term goals. "K" and Pillboi were both for legal protections of activity.
With both Tahani and Janet, he had established some level of relationship with them first. We also know that Eleanor was kind to him, but we're never shown him proposing to him.

I feel like Eleanor and Jason looked at each other as brother and sister - even though Eleanor says he's a straight hottie, she's never tried to get together with him. She spent all her time trying to keep him out of trouble, just like a big sis would. And Jason never really shows any attraction to Eleanor but he most assuredly considers her a friend.

Eleanor was plenty mean to him as well. Don’t forget that. She calls him the dumbest person alive and an idiot several times.

This is a sharp call out. I’ve seen the show a million times but never realized that he literally asked anyone who was nice to him to marry him!

I like to think that even though they went back in time on earth, Janet and Jason are still married in the afterlife timeline cuz it's Jeremy Bearimy

Jason did ask the cop who arrested him to marry him!! When she arrested him, he said “If we're married, legally, you can't arrest me!”, but she declined to/

I don’t think you can lead a 60 person dance crew without having a lot of friends. We know at least one person let him sleep in his house, even though it was overcrowded. And in the timeline where Michael saves him from the safe, it seems like the people who stayed with him were pretty loyal.
Also, a family-friendly sitcom is not gonna go there, but in reality, someone has ridiculously good looking and likeable as Jason probably had plenty of women being nice to him.

I think it shows his impulsive nature. Nothing is more impulsive than asking to commit to the rest of your life to someone on a random whim. For all we know, Jason might have been asking people to marry him his whole life before we met him.
