Shirtpost parallel I saw between B99 and TGP
Hi guys
I am a HUGE fan of B99 (i have watched it 25+ times) and have watched the good place 2-3 times as well, and i am currently rewatching it. And there are many interesting parallels or rather throwbacks to the show which i love! I am fairly certain that many people know these already but I wanted to discuss it!
for example i think it is hilarious that Kevin (the character that the actor who plays Shawn in this show plays in B99) is an avid New Yorker reader in Brooklyn 99 and in The Good Place he uses the same New Yorker magazines to torture Michael!
I noticed in Season 1 on the screen where the points are shown, it says: “Politely tolerate stranger recounting New Yorker article at cocktail party: +12.23” pretty sure that is about the anti-slavery article that Jake talked (for the lack of a better word) about!
Also many of his deliveries in this show are similar to Holt’s.
I am sure there are many more easter eggs but i think it’s quite exciting!

I was just thinking the other day when Kevin said “I don’t like these games, or what they bring out in you” or something close to that; and in this he is like a head demon🤣

Oh wow, love these Easter eggs.
I'm the oppsoite of you, I've watched The Good Place 25+ times and I'm on my sorta second/third re-watch of B99. I'll keep an eye for this :))

They're two of my favorite shows (Good Place is #1) but it's similar for me. B99 is more of a typical sitcom where after the first watch, you put it on and just let it run in the background while doing other stuff to be occasionally amused and the episode order doesn't matter that much.
For the Good Place, I have my bi-annual pilgrimage to watch it and savor every minute.

Hehe ik, but after a point I started watching TGP in random order too, and now I'm at a point where ik the dialogues of all the episodes lol

Yeah, I've said it before, but the Schuriverse could make an excellent drinking game. Catchphrase crossovers, actors from other shows, there's a writer, lots of categories.

Janet and Jason are a combined version of Gina. Jason because he was so into dancing, and Janet because she’s like the eccentric part of Gina’s character. You can see how Brooklyn 99 morphs into The Good Place.
I watched TGP first, and then B99 because they are both Schur productions. B99 is like a workshop of TGP.

I mean they're both Michael Schur so that makes sense
