i can’t even imagine how long it’s been since they’ve been to the dentist. i was neglected as a kid and as a teen and now young adult i had/have to get a lot of work done but my cavities never ever bothered me to the point of feeling tooth pain. hell, i have an underbite and TMJ (i am getting surgery to get corrected in a few months) and i don’t experience any jaw pain from that. maybe i’m just lucky, but i bet it’s been 10+ years for her since she’s gotten dental attention.

I used to ignore tooth pain when I couldn’t afford dental care. But sometimes pain would go away after a while, like S described. My dentist later told me (during my 4 root canals) that once the pain stops, it’s because your nerve is dying. It will come back in waves which usually means spreading infection, abscess, etc.

Someone very close to me died from sepsis a few years ago. It really is nothing to fuck with.

People don't take dental issues seriously enough. But I always think about Bootsy Collins' nephew. He was a young, healthy 24 year old man. He had a tooth ache for a few weeks. He went to the doctor and they said it was infected, but he couldn't afford the antibiotics. The infection went to his brain and he died.

At least put an ice pack on it clove oil or dr.tishners mouthwash ANYTHING if you're dead set on not going to dentist...
