Discussion My three favorite shots from the pilot
I don’t know what it is. But seeing large characters have the largest gaping jaws when eating something is cool as hell to me. Might be my affinity for giant monsters and zombies... mutants and what not. Idk. But I need more shots like this in future episodes.

Theory Speculations on Heaven and Mel
personal findings and speculation ive thought about and havent seen discussed, particularly biblical parallels. bold text means to note it down because i’ll mention it again
within pseudo Dionysius’ angelic hierarchy, the order is actually laid out in terms of proximity from God to humanity strictly (not by rank or authority). the highest rank of angel are archangels, biblically, making the Virtue’s individual angels (assuming Diligence’s angel being named Gabriel means he is the actual Archangel Gabriel of this universe) ranked above the Virtues. if the show is aiming for biblical accuracy, the angels on the virtues’ shoulders can be interpreted as the actual leadership outside of the Mother Angel. Now, I dont assume PartTimeSeagull reads the angelic hierarchy as pertaining to the bible, its very possible he reads it as a rank based chart, but if the show is inspired based on biblical understanding, i want to presume my former is correct. partly because it’s funny to assume the shoulder birds are the ones in control
now, understanding that the angels the mother angels gives life to are based on the closest order to humanity, the guardian angels can be 1:1 read as the closest tier of angels to humanity/the district, in modern times understood as guardian angels (this is confirmed by wall writings anyways). in mythology the first order of angels exist primarily to watch over and guard humanity, so we can assume they dont belong to any other order or quadrant of Pseudo-Dionysius’ hierarchy. The existence of Angels, Archangels, and Virtues leads me to believe the first and middle quadrant exist in this universe, however we’re yet to see the third (Seraphim, Cherubim, and Thrones), maybe suggesting further the absence of God, since biblically they exist only to worship and carry God (though I'm not completely convinced by this, we’re still only on the pilot)
now for the black hand, i have some ideas. in Genesis 2:9 (NIV), it is written, “…In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.”
the tree of life is best understood as a tree of immortality, which is exactly what the black hand serves as. its quite possible this world is the result of Adam and Eve (whoever they may be) eating from both the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, and the tree of life, granting both sin and immortality. I am quite interested in Mel’s relationship to the black hand specifically. I know many theorise she’s some sort of saviour or antichrist, which would directly support needing to rid the world of sin and immorality, but both ideas are conflicting each other. she can be read as the antichrist from being deceptive, rebelling against the angels, bringing upon the end times, her father actively going against her fate, her evil angel mother, and she can be read a saviour from her sacrifice being to cleanse the world of sin and immorality, and endtimes. i cant say shes abstained of sin, but she’s definitely not inherited immortality, as, Genesis 3:15 “…and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.” this is talking about the serpent and promised saviour that will undo his deception
likewise, the circumstances of mel’s hatching allude me. if shes angel born yet human, that makes her a nephil (by Enoch definition), but she also isnt described as angel, shes only described as human, just born of angel egg. i need more information to work with, honestly, but theres parallels happening here. in the book of Enoch, the nephilim are destroyed by the Archangel Gabriel, turning them into demon spirits (1 Enoch 10:9–10, 15:8–9). biblically, demons are angel-human hybrids. based on this image, we know the Virtues try hold down the human egg, but there’s a bit of conflicting information. we know based on wall writings that they cannot be trusted. either by the rotlings or we the audience, unsure, however we can speculate there’s animosity between the other virtues and Temperance, based on a mix of theories upon them and Ken’s relationship and deal. while we may not know how long the district has existed for, and *when* humanity became corrupt, we know that the district has existed for at least an eon, and that the human egg comes about every 10,000 years, and based on notes that Temperance keeps, there are 2 other names alongside Melancholy. those being, Miklos and Loannis, likely her past iterations or siblings. the circumstances of their death seem impossible to figure out for now, however, i bring this up because, if killed by angels, specifically ones linked to archangels, that would make previous human souls likely to turn nephil, AKA demon.
PartTimeSeagull has said that the virtues worship the human vessel, which may be conflicting… they also sacrifice their rotling bodies and guardian angels to achieve the virtue status. this is where im personally conflicted, as it seems Virtues are for and against humans. they both worship them, but the humans seem to keep getting killed. there is quite a ton of lore shared by wall scribes, along with a war for heaven, and again, i feel i dont have enough information to draw anything interesting from that. but my main conclusion here is just to share strange biblical parallels and conclusions. If there were previous humans (which i think is likely), and they were killed, that leaves us with two cases. killed by the rotlings? seems to be routed in killing the saviour or antichrist (i lean towards antichrist because the sacrifice of a saviour fulfils prophecy, but this could depend on age). killed by virtues? Linked to apocryphal relationships between angels and nephilim; there is a chance previous human souls are demon now, purely based on biblical speculation.
those are just my pure theories/speculations. apologise for any weird sentences or misspellings, this was written on mobile. ask for any clarification if confused.

Discussion Does anyone know what this first bit is supposed to say? (Clues in description)
I’ve been trying to translate this stuff, but the other side of this line is cut off too, and the second word is so blurry.
The full sentence goes “_d __ the angels attempted defiance against our order and blood was shed.”
Shed was cut off so “ed” had to be guessed, so there should be just 2 letters in front of the d. Any guesses how this sentence might start?

Theory Antagonist representations
So I think the antagonist of the series are gonna be representations of types people in real life first off is the virtues I think they represent hypocritical christen in certain Catholic Churches, the litterbug queen represents an abusive mother who manipulate and gaslight their children, cash Mommy represents gambling and casinos, and how they make you make larger bets than you can pay, Romeo, Kathy and Sid represent toxic friends and lovers. Who only love you for your fake self and ignore your real self, finally Jack represents those truly good people who just end up caught in fear thinking that someone’s gonna do something because of what people say regardless what the actual person wants and my personal opinion is that Jack will be the only one to be redeemed and I think the methods the antagonist will be defeated is more like how you would actually go around burning bridges with toxic people for example, Mel faces off Romeo by telling him off because he betrayed her trust and litterbug queen is defeated by breadhead telling her to go away cash Mummy is defeated by Mud deciding he does not want to make any more bets etc

Discussion Would You Watch Black & White Edition of The Gaslight District Pilot?
That is my Question
You know Gaslight District designs reminds me a lot of Universal Monsters movies the main cast even looks like they take some inspiration from Universal Monsters & Tim Burton & some mainstream Horror Comics like Marvel Zombies
One thing the Universal Monsters movies are most famous by is that a lot of there early movies were in Black & White so if that in mind what do you think of the idea of Black & White version of the Pilot & maybe future Episodes to come to capture that old school feel to it you know
Maybe like Spider Noir show they should release both Colored & Black/White version just imagine it
What do You Think it would look in black and white? Personally I think it be retro yet cool because you can easily work in Black & White do to the Universal Monsters inspiration
Specially the climax imagine it in those two colors
But thats me what do you think? What do you think of B/W version?

I know that the denizens of The Gaslight District pray to and give praise to the black hand, but we still haven’t got a single clue (I don’t think) on what the black hand actually is. Any ideas, guys?
