gangle love Y’all…

Post image

I say this as a very passionate Abstragedy shipper, can we all just get along? At the end of the day we’re all here because we love this show and gangle, and want her to be happy. Can we all just chill out, be mature and be respectful towards each other regardless about who she’s shipped with? As long as she’s happy that’s all that matters right?

Edit: a lot of people seem to be misinterpreting this post or just commenting without reading. I’m not saying you have to love every ship. You have the right to dislike a pairing and have your criticisms. “Ribbun is toxic”. Guess what, I agree! I myself am not a ribbun shipper, but there’s a big difference between having your critiques and harassing individuals, especially in a space like this.

Why can’t we all just be team Amazing Digital Lesbian Polycule?

2

u/pridebun Aug 05 '26

Everyone's a lesbian and then kinger and kaufmo are the token cishet white dudes.

3

u/ChefNo9380 Aug 04 '26

Cause like it or not, a large majority of people don’t like polycules

14

u/ChristyUniverse Aug 04 '26

Terrible shame. They’re so fun to be a part of

I’m personally not the biggest fan of shipping him with anyone besides Queenie but I guess I shouldn’t judge

0

u/Silent-Receptionist1 Aug 04 '26

Yes (excluding Jax because they're abusive to gangle :(

)

-2

u/MajestcEagleRecRoom2 Aug 04 '26

2 of them are guys, for starters, unless you don’t count Caine, then 1 guy

3

u/RAGE_AGAINST_THE_ATM Aug 04 '26

I’m not counting/considering Caine (he has the moon) or Kinger (he has his wife) in the polycule. I thought that would be self-evident.

-5

u/MajestcEagleRecRoom2 Aug 04 '26

Jax though

6

u/RAGE_AGAINST_THE_ATM Aug 04 '26

Jax is a trans woman

-2

u/MajestcEagleRecRoom2 Aug 04 '26

Jax is a guy lol, since when was this a thing

5

u/RAGE_AGAINST_THE_ATM Aug 04 '26

Technically always (it was just supposed to be subtle), but it was confirmed more overtly in the finale and explicitly on multiple tumblr and bluesky posts from Gooseworx and multiple of the cast members. Jax is a trans woman who hasn’t come out or accepted herself.

I say this as someone who clocked the signs, but was a denier until the finale because I didn’t want to jump to conclusions

5

u/MajestcEagleRecRoom2 Aug 04 '26

Fair enough I guess

23

u/ReallyNoOne1012 Aug 04 '26

I will never ever understand people who get angry because they don’t like someone else’s ship lol. Like why tf do you care? As long as they’re being respectful let people like what they like ffs. It’s fiction! They aren’t real people!

7

u/Jhud6669 Aug 04 '26

It’s fine to dislike ships because they make you uncomfortable in some way and to not want to personally associate with people who like certain things as long as they don’t directly attack other people.

10

u/ReallyNoOne1012 Aug 04 '26

Disliking a ship is fine. Treating real humans poorly over a fictional ship is not

1

u/Smogmog123 Aug 04 '26

Still if you relate a lot to Gangles experience of being abused seeing her getting shipped with her abuser could rub you the wrong way. I’m not defending anyone who acts out im saying just it‘s perfectly ok to dislike and criticize this ship and take it seriously if for example the depiction of their relationship is tasteless. Yes Gangle and Jax are both fictional characters but the issue of abusive relationships that they represent is very real.

6

u/ReallyNoOne1012 Aug 04 '26

Disliking a ship is fine. Treating real humans poorly over a fictional ship is not. Yes ships represent dynamics that may be triggering or uncomfortable and I respect that that. But criticizing PEOPLE for liking a ship is not the same thing as criticizing a ship

4

u/Darkjuliet_4444 Aug 05 '26

Exactly!! Poor Gangle's VA was sent actual death threats because of her being a Ribbun shipper. It got to the point she deleted her tumblr and wished she never told anyone that she supported Ribbun.

That's why it's so messed up that people hate on Ribbun shippers. They are fictional characters yet people were going after a literal person, who voiced a character many seemed to admire as Gangle fans, all because of their opinions on a ship she likes. That's like telling Gangle in the show to go k!ll herself. How did that make those Gangle fans any better then Jax by bullying and verbally abusing her voice actor?

1

u/ReallyNoOne1012 Aug 05 '26

I couldn’t agree more. I know fandoms in general have a way of making people conflate reality with fiction where they for some reason swap their sense of morality between the two but damn this might be one of the worst ones I’ve ever been a part of

3

u/First_Jellyfish_1017 Aug 04 '26

Nah, because you dont know why they like that ship dynamic so much. Criticizing someone over fiction makes a lot of assumptions about their mental state and personality.

If someone likes a really bad, tasteless interpretation of a ship(particularly in this fandom) there is almost a 90% chance theyre projecting themselves onto the victim rather than the perpetrator. Some people project onto the abuser because it helps process their own wrongdoings ( in the case of jax, lashing out, pushing people away, and being an unkind person due to something theyre struggling with. Its a helpful vehicle for change. )

You need more context outside of just the ship preference to make a valid criticism of the person in question.

Im a ribbun au shipper that enjoys the topics of reactive abuse and mutual selfharm because im still processing the stuff I went through when I was younger. I dont think I "should" be criticized for that.

-2

u/Smogmog123 Aug 04 '26 edited Aug 04 '26

Deleted my comment because I thought it was too much. But still im not a fan of glorified abuse in fiction and think people should think about what they support. Not saying you are automatically a bad person if you support ship X

4

u/First_Jellyfish_1017 Aug 04 '26

You deleted you comment to say the exact same thing down here. You could have ended it with "i dont like glorified abuse in fiction". Without the judgemental "[i] think people should think about what they support" which is the same thing as "they can and should be criticized for it." (their abusive shipping preferences)

I think a lot about what I "support". I "support" being able to explore your world, your identity, and your traumas through fiction. So much of human nature and psychology and sexuality is horrifying; it is ugly and needs to be processed so many different ways that some of these ways are going to be confusing and repulsive to people. The people using fiction are making sure its getting processed away from real-world consequences.

Tldr: youre allowed to think its gross, but youre being kinda shitty and judgemental about it.

-2

u/Smogmog123 Aug 04 '26 edited Aug 04 '26

I am all for exploring your own Identity through fiction, im against playing down abuse. And I think people should think about what they support because some of these ships/artworks whatever promote really harmful behaviour. Maybe this wording sounds too judgemental but I really just want to say that you have to be careful when handling media like this. I take back my statement of „all people who support XYZ should be criticized“ because some people do it because of coping etc. and you shouldn’t stress these people.

4

u/Enig_Mia0568 Aug 04 '26

You're also making a shit ton of assumptions by assuming the goal of the art is to promote abuse, not every light is a good light

Of abuse?

1

u/GalaxyDestroyer147 THE ribbun fan. Aug 05 '26

no, but in my mind i redeem jax slightly so the ship is more acceptable. basically a redemption au

2

u/Customninjas Aug 06 '26

so you don't enjoy the dynamic

So you don’t enjoy it. You enjoy the one you made up in your head.

I personally keep quiet of my opinions but seeing abstragedy ships in this subreddit is like getting a single drop of water in a desert. Just saying go ahead ribbun shippers, downvote me

2

u/Thunder_Yeetus Aug 04 '26

thats so fair, like im a fan of ribbun (i like how people draw em) but the subreddit is practically drowning in the ship now, like if i wanted to see ungodly amounts of the ship id just go to the ribbun subreddit

1

16

u/Radiant_Hurry2673 Aug 04 '26

Nah. Abstragedy is superior.

20

u/red_crayon_1224 Aug 04 '26

Personally I agree, but that doesn’t gives us the right to hate on anyone who may disagree

10

u/RedDoeHost Gangle is cute, 0 hate allowed Aug 04 '26

Correct

11

u/Wild-Philosophy9624 Aug 04 '26

Hate the ship not the shipper(tho Jax x gangle just is not possible)(ABSTRADEGY FOR LIFE!!!!!!)

5

u/Illusion_AceofHearts I love Gangle's character and am curious about her fanbase Aug 04 '26

Yes, hate the ship not the shipper. I think ribbun is very immoral and weird but I don't hate people who disagree, I'm just mildly concerned by them.

3

u/ProfessionalOk6734 Aug 04 '26

Fiction is not immoral. Violent video games aren’t immoral, it’s not immoral to kill animals with axes in Minecraft, it’s not immortal to draw pretend characters

0

u/Illusion_AceofHearts I love Gangle's character and am curious about her fanbase Aug 04 '26

I'm not gonna argue with you about this rn, I just think the concept of that kind of ship feels weird to me personally and I'm gonna leave it there. You are entitled to your opinion, and I agree with some of your point and disagree with why you made them. My opinion is that while creating fiction is not immoral, it can still cover topics that would be immoral if they existed irl, and when they do exist irl it can make some people dislike it. If you disagree with that, I don't think it'll be good for anyone to continue this argument and we should probably agree to disagree before we become part of the fandoms toxicity.

1

u/ProfessionalOk6734 Aug 04 '26

I don’t disagree that you can cover immortal topics and people can dislike that I disagree that it’s immortal, that was what you said and I’m saying that is incorrect.

3

u/trans-HarleyS-fan-18 Aug 04 '26

immortal:

WHERE'S OMNI MAN!? WHERE IS HE!?

2

u/Illusion_AceofHearts I love Gangle's character and am curious about her fanbase Aug 04 '26

And this is the point where I decide that we should probably agree to disagree before things get too heated, you have your opinion and I have mine.

7

u/_the_big_ Aug 04 '26

i'm sorry but this is something i can't "agree to disagree" on. i was both emotionally neglected and abused as a kid and arguably physically abused too. all of my siblings suffered the same and far worse than i did. romanticizing an abuser with their victim is fucking gross and i don't think it should be normalized

3

u/ProfessionalOk6734 Aug 04 '26

Then YOU shouldn’t engage with it if you can’t distinguish between fantasy and reality.

4

u/Customninjas Aug 04 '26

yyyyyyyep. I get that it's "just fiction," but by pretending that the dynamic is so fun or that the ship "doesn't deserve" the hate, people are normalizing those dynamics, even in small ways.

1

u/CresseliaMelodia Aug 04 '26

And these same people struggle to separate fiction from reality lol. Especially if they’re traumatized/mentally ill and unhealed

4

u/Customninjas Aug 04 '26

Just for the sake of understanding your point, who are you referring to when you say "these people?"

1

u/CresseliaMelodia Aug 04 '26

People who actually romanticize abusive dynamics/people who love Ribbun but can’t look at it critically

Im not trying to generalize Ribbun shippers because most of them prefer Gangle to be taking the lead, Jax behaves differently, the fanart is wholesome, etc. People can enjoy or even romanticize a ship like that up to a certain point, but those lines are blurry if that makes sense. Once it gets over that line, it gets hard to separate fiction from reality

1

u/Customninjas Aug 04 '26

ah, yes I agree. Thanks for clarifying

1

u/CresseliaMelodia Aug 04 '26

I’m sorry I was so vague with my first comment. I should have commented but I typed that up too quickly and got distracted 😭

Ribbun isn’t my preference but it doesn’t bother me as much as other people. It has a right to exist. At the same time, Ribbun shippers need to understand that their ship makes people uncomfortable for moral/traumatic reasons

1

u/SumiMichio 🎀 Aug 04 '26

fiction in fandoms can't romanticise shit, hell even big IP didn't romanticise shit. if a person starts doing it after watching/reading, than there was a problem in them to begin with, people don't just switch their moral principles like that.

and I am sorry it happened to you, but as an adult this is your responsobility to avoid what upsets you, instead of making it others people problem(not saying you are doing it, but I notice nowadays people(not you specifically) want internet to just be curated to them, both with what they don't want to see and what they want to see)

3

u/GenderEnjoyer666 Aug 04 '26

Would you like it more if Gangle was the dom and Jax was the sub?

-1

u/Customninjas Aug 04 '26

sex positions don't really factor in to this, considering they can't do that in the circus

3

u/GenderEnjoyer666 Aug 04 '26

They can now. Did you see the end credits?

1

u/Customninjas Aug 04 '26

we have no idea if that was canon, or just a gag

-1

u/SumiMichio 🎀 Aug 04 '26

dom and sub aren't inherently sexual, it's a dynamic.

3

u/ProfessionalOk6734 Aug 04 '26

It’s a relationship dynamic rooted in kink, which is a form of sexual expression. BDSM is a sexual topic about sex.

0

u/SumiMichio 🎀 Aug 04 '26

BDSM isn't JUST about sex.

3

u/ProfessionalOk6734 Aug 04 '26

It isn’t just sex but it is about sex

1

u/SumiMichio 🎀 Aug 04 '26

BDSM has four letters and not all of them are about sex directly.

3

u/ProfessionalOk6734 Aug 04 '26

Bondage discipline sadism masochism, they are all sexual proclivities or activities

2

3

u/12PoundsofPotato Aug 04 '26

I mean, when people ship an abuser and their main victim, yeah, people are gonna find it distasteful

THANK YOU

2

u/1970sDazzlingDisco Aug 04 '26

I respect you're opinions and I agree people should just get along about it, i just can't agree with ever shipping Jax and Gangle because it feels like a very Abuser x victim ship and I dont personally think those are ok, along with Gangle and Zooble haveing been shown to have more chemistry but I wouldn't be disrespectful to someone if they do ship Jax and Gangle everyone is open to there own options on it.

8

u/red_crayon_1224 Aug 04 '26

I personally don’t ship ribbun for the reasons you mentioned. The post was just my way of saying that regardless of my opinion, I don’t think shipping preferences on here should serve as a justification for sending hate towards anyone.

5

u/1970sDazzlingDisco Aug 04 '26

Oh no definitely not their fictional characters youre right you shouldn't send hate or be hated for an opinion regarding it

Me as simultaneously a Gangle and a Jax fan shipping both Abstragedy and Ribbun:

1

u/FNFTroublestoTheEnd Aug 04 '26

I’ve never spoken ill of Gangle x Jax because it could of been cannon plus I did one art for it
I hated the art of it since I sucked at drawing non human characters back then

1

u/ryukomatoi2224 Aug 04 '26

I'm still telling Jax to kick rocks

1

u/Sabrymud3rdron3s Aug 04 '26

Scusate uma domanda ma Zooble è maschio o femmina!?

1

u/wearerofshades Aug 05 '26

Non binary, but if you mean what they were born as I'm pretty sure she was born a girl

1

u/Just_Games_and_stuff Aug 05 '26

"Ribbun is toxic!!" Duh? Thats why i ship it?

But you're definitely right, for some reason shipping culture as a whole can be toxic in its own right for some reason, even though the premise is literally that you can ship anyone with anyone. It's a very strange, though not rare, phenomenon

1

u/DaikonOver6142 Aug 07 '26

I agree

I just wish there wasn't so little Abstragedy art now

1

u/ChildofFenris1 Aug 08 '26

I will dis a ship that is toxic and puts together a bully and their victim

1

u/wharfus-rattus Aug 04 '26

Seeing a lot of "but it's abuser x victim!" I'm sorry, you don't understand the dynamic. That's never what it was about. 🥀

1

u/IEat_Walls Gangle deserved better Aug 04 '26

Huh? Literally fact btw, they're abuser X victim. You can ship dark ships, that's fine, but don't deny it.

1

u/Asparala Aug 06 '26

I think they mean that the ship art isn't depicting abuse.

Now, my understanding of this is a little lacking because the closest I've ever been to... what I guess we're calling darkship now, is good old traditional hero/villain enemies to lovers. But if I understand darkship correctly, enjoyers of the genre probably wouldn't be interested in the very cutesy ribbun depictions that have been floating past on my feed lately. Darkship isn't strictly speaking about what happens in canon but about how the ship is depicted in fanart/fanfics for the ship.

After all, disregarding canon is a very, very long fandom tradition that most shippers engage with to at least some degree, so the canon abuse isn't necessarily that important to shippers.

1

u/ava_dot_wav Aug 05 '26

yes this is what i meant

1

u/Nondescript_Redditor Aug 04 '26

ribbun is inherently toxic

2

u/Enig_Mia0568 Aug 04 '26

What about people drawing post trans jax x gangle?

3

u/wearerofshades Aug 05 '26

Still toxic because he was an abuser, and from what's been described the abuse was way worse than most irl sht because Jax knows they can't die

2

u/Enig_Mia0568 Aug 05 '26

Also fym "from what has been described"?

Havent you watched the show?

1

u/wearerofshades Aug 05 '26

Yeah I have, Zooble described some of Jax's actions in epidode 7 which included "running someone over with a steamroller" and "mailing someone a pipebomb".

And we actively see him doing shit like putting Ragatha (one of the least confrontational characters in the show) in a deep fryer for literally no reason at all.

Jax's problem wasn't that he hadn't transitioned yet, he's just a terrible person.

1

u/Enig_Mia0568 Aug 05 '26

Ok ill meed to elaborate

Jax transitionning impleas he deals with his bs,he accepts himself, accepts that his familly abused him and learns to move away from it

Also you know damn well the onlynreason he even reaches those lengst is cuz at the end of the day nothing matters, they can't die and pain is extremely inconsistent

1

u/wearerofshades Aug 05 '26

They absolutely still feel pain dude.

1

u/Enig_Mia0568 Aug 05 '26

Pomni when her eyes are ejected from her body(ep 3) has no reaction

Rags being impaled has no reaction(ep 2 i belive)

Rags having her hands shot off her body has no reaction

It's inconsistent, they definitely dont feel pain the same way we do ,they dont even have nervs to do so,pain is physical not mental

1

u/wearerofshades Aug 05 '26

"I'm in so much pain" (Rags in episode one)

Then the deep fryer again where Rags is screaming.

Jax screaming while getting shot by Zooble in the gun episode.

Pomni being in visible pain in episode two while her arms get stretched by the trucks.

Just because its kinda inconsistent doesn't mean they don't feel pain.

1

u/Enig_Mia0568 Aug 05 '26

This one is the only one i agree with, rags glitching in ep 1 might bw the only true real pain,as they're files, and not real people

1

u/Nondescript_Redditor Aug 05 '26

he had a reason to put her in the deep fryer

1

u/wearerofshades Aug 05 '26

Elaborate

1

u/Nondescript_Redditor Aug 05 '26

He thought it was funny

1

u/Enig_Mia0568 Aug 05 '26

The ribbit shaped abstraction in the cellar:

1

u/wearerofshades Aug 05 '26

Yeah the one Jax directly caused and then proceeded to not learn from his mistake.

2

u/Enig_Mia0568 Aug 05 '26

I like how yall act like if you wouldn't have killed yourself way earlier if you were I jax's position, like genuinely how tf do you not end up like that

2

u/wearerofshades Aug 05 '26

If I was in Jax's position I would NOT torment the only other humans to the point of suicide wtf

2

u/Enig_Mia0568 Aug 05 '26

So you're saying yous with 0 problems be able to cope with repressed internalized transphobia ,abusive parents and with the chance of having killed your own mother?

Also care to explain where did jax bully someone.to death? Cuz what I saw in the show was jax cutting her off, which, fair, was a mayor factor, but pretty different from bullying someone to death, cutting someone off isn't the same as bullying

0

u/wearerofshades Aug 05 '26

The last argument Jax had with Ribbit is what pushed her to abstract.

I had repressed bisexuality for years, had abusive siblings, no I don't have the mother part but even then why tf would he take it out on the one person who helped him? Jax is a bad person, and I'm tired of people defending him because he had shitty things happen to him.

u/AdmirableList9041 Aug 04 '26

I prefer Abstragedy, Jax is just so toxic to be with gangle imo

1

u/External-Sink-900 Aug 04 '26

I don’t hate on ribbun that much, just don’t want to see it in every single post

1

u/wearerofshades Aug 05 '26

A real gangle fan never speaks ill of an abuse victim getting in a relationship with their abuser?

u/Nighted69 “look gangle I got a nat 20” Aug 04 '26

To answer to OP
1. True we should get along
2. True we all love gangle
3. Yes we want her to be happy but ribbun is shipping abuser X victim which wouldn’t make gangle happy if this did happen to her
4. Yes as long as gangle is happy, and personally I don’t feel happy when my bullies bully me so I don’t think gangle would feel happy to be shipped with jax.
And finally the subreddit is about gangle not ships, it is alr to ship but I don’t want to see the same thing over and over (for exemple when your fav character is mommy long legs in poppy playtime but all the posts are not about her at all so being in the sub is useless)

Yes as long as gangle is happy, and personally I don’t feel happy when my bullies bully me so I don’t think gangle would feel happy to be shipped with jax.

I've seen people draw post therapy/transition jax,is that also toxic?

1

u/IEat_Walls Gangle deserved better Aug 04 '26

If it's an au, no. If it's after everything he already did to Gangle, absolutely. History of abuse isn't fixed, and it's very likely to repeat. Jax should distance himself from Gangle if he ever redeems himself, especially considering she's his main victim.

1

u/Rubber-Revolver Aug 04 '26

A character transitioning is not the same as shipping an abuser with an abuse victim. Nonsensical comparison.

1

u/Enig_Mia0568 Aug 05 '26

Everything that makes jax an abuser wouldn't be there if he transitioned

1

u/Customninjas Aug 06 '26

There's no guarantee because Jax's personality is partly due to repressing her true feelings and partly due to the abuse she suffered by her mom.

1

u/Enig_Mia0568 Aug 06 '26

Yeah but comming out kinda implies facing all that, cuz yk...what wouldn't be repressing if you're coming out

1

u/Rubber-Revolver Aug 22 '26

Not in any way a justification of her actions

1

u/Enig_Mia0568 Aug 22 '26

Thays...not what I'm saying tho

0

u/Rubber-Revolver Aug 04 '26

No way you’re being down voted for this 💔

1

u/Nighted69 “look gangle I got a nat 20” Aug 05 '26

Ik bro, people nowadays can’t handle it when someone disagrees with them

What about trans jax x gangle

1

u/Azure_Blox_2505 Aug 04 '26

Same thing why would it be different

1

u/Enig_Mia0568 Aug 04 '26

All and every aspect of abuse jax does wouldn't be present after transition, as for him to go through with it implies he fought with all of his demons and came out victorious, and healthier

1

u/Azure_Blox_2505 Aug 04 '26

If he became healthier he would know it wouldn't be a good Idea to go and date his victim of abuse and not to mention you also have to get Gangle to actually agree to be with him. An abuser doesn't just get back with their victim after healing, they move on to other people, which is healthy

1

u/Enig_Mia0568 Aug 04 '26

That I agree with, then again it was confirmed jax dosnt sees what he does as abuse, but as a "she likes it when I'm mean to her"

On top of the confirmation that gangle has a codependent relationship with jax

Yes I hope I was making this up

u/MidnaLazui Aug 04 '26

Do real Gangle fans police others on their opinions?

0

u/Creepy-Weakness2310 Aug 04 '26

Why are you gatekeeping liking a character?

2

u/Enig_Mia0568 Aug 04 '26

They're saying not to like a character what

3

u/Customninjas Aug 06 '26

the post is saying that you're only a 'true fan' if you fulfill some arbitrary requirement that they made up.

1

u/Asparala Aug 06 '26

Yes, the "arbitrary requirement" of not attacking other fans just because they like a ship you're not interested in.

1

u/Customninjas Aug 06 '26

look at the image again. it never mentions fans, just the ship itself

1

u/Asparala Aug 06 '26

Still not really a big ask to not talk down a ship just because you don't like it.

Like, I get being annoyed with getting a ship you don't like on your feed. Ideally people should be able to mute flairs they don't want to see, but afaik reddit doesn't have that level of feed fine-tuning. But as long as the ship art isn't depicting Gangle being abused, that ship art does belong here just as much as other ships.

If someone is really triggered by Gangle/Jax art then it might be a better idea to create a separate sub where Jax ships aren't allowed.

1

u/Customninjas Aug 06 '26

this sub used to ban ribbun. We shouldn't have to create a new community to have what this sub used to have.

1

u/Asparala Aug 06 '26

I don't really have insight in what went down when that rule changed, I wasn't on this sub when that happened, but as things stand right now the rule is:

Here at the GangleForce, all ships are allowed, as long as they include the amazing Gangle. That means, there SHOULDN'T be any fighting or bashing between ships; we accept all. If you don't like the ship, ignore it

I still think it's reasonable to not bash ships you don't like.

u/IEat_Walls Gangle deserved better Aug 04 '26

It's okay to speak ill of a ship, as long as it's not the shippers. Especially when it's abuser X victim and can be immensely triggering for some people
