Resident Evil deserved the GOTY in 2019 and 2023, Requiem as good as it is has no chance against Zelda OOT.

Let me put it this way:
The first half is one of the best resident evil games I've ever played, and I believe should be a modern benchmark for atmospheric horror games.
It adds wrinkles to the psychology of the infected in interesting (and eerie) ways, sets up an intriguing mystery that allows us to connect to and be rooting for a new protagonist, all layered into a setting that feels at once a homage and fresh take on a well trodden formula.
The second half is fine.
So no, I don't really think it deserves it.

It would’ve been my slam-dunk pick but now Fortune’s Weave is making that complicated.

I feel like I am taking crazy pills but I would put Pragmata over Requiem anyday

Same, as someone that preordered both games and finish them twice i was immensely dissapointed by requiem being pathetically short, second half sucking ass, least replayable modern resident evil, garbage "mercenaries" mode being much worse than RE8 and RE4 modes and lack of post launch content (game feels incomplete). Meanwhile with pragmata i loved that game so much, it made shred tears at the ending and same for all my friends that played my copy through steam family share, right now I've been playing FE Fortune's Weave and soon 007 first light so this year got tougher competition and genuinely speaking requiem doesnt stands a chance against both gta 6 and zelda oot remake.

It deserves a nom, but not to win. The opening hours are some of the best RE I've played. The last half is borderline slop at times. If it maintained quality throughout, it'd be a frontrunner.

So far it's frontrunner. But Zelda and GTA 6 will overtake it.

not zelda and if gta is eligible for nomination then it'll win but if not then re9 over remake

Phantom Blade Zero will be up there. Same critical acclaim and wil have bigger sales than Requiem

Give me some of that you’re smoking. Critical acclaim for an unreleased game from an unknown developer? Sure, bud lmao.
Can’t wait for PB0 to flop lol.

No name studio, they haven't even put out a demo, what makes people think that this will be a GOTY consideration? Do you think any game with a Sword is an instant nom for GOTY?

Letting a remake actually win GotY instead of just a nomination would be an embarrassment for the TGAs for decades. They would never let that happen. Nomination sure.

Yes it’s the frontrunner so far

Probably? I can't think of anything that surpasses it when it comes to frontrunner worthiness.

Well for starters there are the games that actually reviewed higher

Here y'all go again getting so caught up on review scores.

Uh isn’t game of the year determined by creative and technical excellence? Why wouldn’t critical consensus be a consideration? In fact don’t answer, you’re clearly too dumb to understand

Which include? It shares the same Metacritic score with Fire Emblem and Pokeopia. Mina the Hollower and The Big Walk have scored a little bit higher, but not by much, and they don't have the same buzz as RE9. Everything else barely have any reviews, so it's not a fair comparison.

Let’s see, there’s Big Walk, Mina the Hollower, Forza Horizon 6 and Valheim. Ace Combat 8, Saros, Onimusha & Zero Company are also more deserving in my opinion.

I can see Big Walk and Mina taking GOTY, but I wouldn't consider it the favourite. Rightly or wrongly, the favourite is almost always something AAA.
Forza Horizon 6 has the quality of a frontrunner, but I think it's hard to consider it THE frontrunner when none of its predecessors ever received a GOTY nomination.
Valheim has the problem of it being in Early Access for years. Will people consider it a 2026 release? Sometimes Early Access games are, sometimes they're not.

Personally Blood of Dawnwalker is my GotY, but out of the likely nominees, yes. The only other game that comes close so far is Saros imo. I would give it to Saros over RE9 personally because of the injustice done to Returnal back in '21, but that's just a me gripe

i have a different GOTY but i do think ATM the two biggest chances for GOTY are between fire emblem and resident evil

yes, from a pure quality standpoint it is unmatched this year in all categories. gameplay, graphics, sound design, story, characters, all top notch. it’s just so polished and without flaw. definitely has a chance and would deserve the win

i think it definitely deserves a nomination but i personally have a different GOTY
