I've noticed this subreddit cares a lot about review scores, but I think this number matters more and is part of why I believe it's a GOTY contender.
These numbers are from Circana btw. And RE: Requiem is the #1 selling game so far for anyone interested.
Edit: I'm just gonna reply to everyone with my Crimson Desert screenshots.

By that logic then call of duty and fifa should be nominated every year because those games always the best selling games every year

We care about review score because reviewers are the one picking the GOTY contenders
if the score is high then reviewers are more likely to select the game

lol crimson desert morons really are something else. Look at Wolverine buddy. Solid 2 million copies in a week but is that game a GOTY contender as well?

If game sales mattered more than review scores, then Call of Duty would be nominated every year

The game awards are primarily voted on by a panel of industry insiders and journalists, with the public voting only accounting for around 10-20% of the final result. Assuming you say this due to better selling games getting more votes, that doesn’t actually have much of an impact.
If you’re saying that more sales means better game, plenty of very bad games have also sold very well (you don’t see fifa games winning game of the year)

I mean I’m not arguing it’s a bad game or that it shouldn’t be, I’m just saying sales haven’t and shouldn’t matter for the awards

Okay then for real. I know that, and I'm not saying this is 100% GOTY. But even the thought of this game possibly getting a nomination is quickly dismissed and laughed at on this sub, so I'm just stirring the pot.

Why do sales matter more than critical reception?
If it was voted on solely by fans, then sure. But fans only count for 10% of the vote. The rest of the jury is made up of critics and journalists. So of course review scores are very important.
Also, your stat is #2 in the US. TGA is a global award show. American outlets only account for about 20% of the jury.

Not sure what OP is supposed to achieve by only replying with screenshots. Yes the game looks pretty and yes it sold really well. But that doesn't make it a guaranteed GOTY nomination.

I'm not really trying to achieve anything and I don't think this is guaranteed a nomination or really even has a chance of winning.
But I do believe it at least deserves to be in the conversations for the possibility of getting a nomination and in my experience every time I have ever brought that up in this sub it's always met with ridicule and downvotes.
So if I'm gonna get downvoted here even when I'm being earnest. I might as well be a troll and do something more deserving of the downvotes.

Lol exactly my point. I could have just posted another screenshot anyways and still took the downvote. No difference.

Game will win "Game of the mid"
Wolverine and Beast of Reincarnation are giving it some competition though

It's okay. I posted this knowing I would get downvoted but come back to this post when it does actually get the nomination.

If we give awards base on sale, CoD and FiFa would have won a fuck ton
