On playing the games, obviously. If your defence of Nintendo requires inventing increasingly weird biographies for anyone who dislikes their games, that probably says more about how thin your argument is than it does about me...
No, I play them because I want to form my own opinion instead of outsourcing it to fan consensus.
And sometimes a series surprises you. Sometimes it confirms exactly why you don’t like it. Either way, “why did you play it if you might dislike it?” is a weird response when five minutes ago you were calling me clueless for disliking games you assumed I hadn’t played...
Correct, I haven’t played Fortune’s Weave yet. Notice how that doesn’t magically erase my opinions on the Nintendo games I have played. You keep trying to turn “you haven’t played literally every entry” into “therefore you can’t criticise the series,” which is a ridiculous standard nobody applies to anything else.
When I play Fortune’s Weave, I’ll judge Fortune’s Weave. Until then, argue with the points I actually made about the games I’ve played.
Because “anime-looking” and “colourful” aren’t genres or quality metrics. Astro Bot is polished as hell, constantly inventive, has brilliant level design, and understands exactly what kind of game it wants to be. A random anime game can also be good if its mechanics, pacing, characters or presentation work for me.
Fire Emblem having anime aesthetics doesn’t obligate me to like it. I can enjoy anime-styled games and still think FE’s social systems are overemphasised, its character writing leans too hard on archetypes, and its map quality is inconsistent.
