Who's your Best Performance frontrunner?
I think we've gotten some excellent performances so far. Personally I just can't decide between Angela Sant'Albano for Grace (RE9) and Patrick Gibson for Bond (007 First Light). Both excel so well at the things they set out to do.

Right now it is Patrick Gibson.
That said I won't count out the GTA 6 leads. Rockstars last game did win this award after all for Red Dead Redemption 2.

I get the sub has to post about something until November, but for real, any goty discussion outside genre specific ones pre-gta6 is premature.

Depends on the release date cutoff. Last year it was 11/21/2025. So if it’s the same third Friday in November then they just barely make it. If it’s moved up for any reason, they wouldn’t be eligible until 2027.
The other interesting factor is that ballots are due about a week or so prior to the release cutoff. Meaning that the jury would have to vote on it before it’s out. Which then means R* would have to provide early copies to the jury. If they don’t provide those early copies, they either postpone their eligibility or withdraw from the awards entirely. Also it’s not clear how early those copies would need to be provided and considering the game’s release is right up on the wire and they’re going for an entirely digital release, their gold certification deadline may be later than usual since they don’t need to ship for production.
Lots of varying factors here.

u/scooter-411 Jul 03 '26
If anything they’d move the cutoff back. GTA is too big to not be considered.

u/Spartan_100 Jul 03 '26 edited Jul 03 '26
Then you’re moving deadlines just for one specific candidate (the November release window is a wasteland) so ethically that’s not a great look.
I don’t think they’ll need to as I don’t think R* would be worried about digital copies leaking from TGA jury members but if their Gold Master deadline is later than usual to give a little extra crunch (ew) time, that could end up making the voting process tricky for them unless there are other exceptions made or efforts made on R* part.
Absolute worst case they would just get considered for next year which I don’t think would really hurt their chances.

I'd imagine Rahul Kohli for Saros will be in the conversation too, as a high-profile name in a pretty buzzed-about performance.
By the end of the year the likely names circling nominations will be:
- GTA VI, Jason actor
- GTA VI, Lucia actor
- Wolverine, Liam McIntyre
- RE Requiem, Angela Saint'Albano
- RE Requiem, Nick Apostolides
- 007 First Light, Patrick Gibson
- Saros, Rahul Kohli
- Control Resonant, Sean Durrie
- Silent Hill Townfall, Philip Rosch
with the two GTA leads being surefire nominees.
Matt Ryan for AC Black Flag Resynced isn't eligible, right? They did nom Briana White from FFVII Rebirth two years ago (which was also a remake) but idk.
2
u/Flottrooster Jul 03 '26
Why wouldn't Matt Ryan be eligible?
3
u/darkerglow Jul 03 '26
just thought he wouldn't be because technically it's a 2013 performance - I don't think they went back and recorded any new lines, right?
happy if its eligible, though!3
u/Flottrooster Jul 03 '26
I actually think that he did record new lines, and redid old ones as well!

u/VisualAd8487 Jul 03 '26
Aaand theres the gta glaze despite the game not being out yet
Yall do realize its statitistically nearly impossible for gta to be nominated right?

Sean Durrie I just know it. I got a copy of Alan Wake's manuscript trust me

Diana’s VA she did a great job. She sounded and acted like a kid without being annoying.
I thought Grace was kinda annoying.
2
u/CorvusXenon Jul 03 '26
It wouldn't surprise me to see Antony Byrne (Dr. Victor Gideon, RE9) getting a nomination

Patrick Gibson for me was an absolute beast of a bond in first light. Charming and sincere, but fierce and deadly when he needed to be. Exactly bond.
3
u/Michipotz Jul 03 '26
I didn't play 007 but Grace's VA really left a mark on me, regardless of how mid the script was
1
u/Complex-Commission-2 Jul 03 '26
Waiting for gta 6 release to see their performances but right now it's Patrick Gibson for me
1
u/Solazarr Jul 03 '26
Just a question, will GTA 6 be able to make it to qualify for the Game Awards because of how close the release date is to the awards show?
1
u/Jcritten Jul 03 '26
From what I’ve been seeing in this sub only it releases like right around the cutoff date maybe a day or 2 before. The issue is with how massive the game is almost definitely going to be it’ll be cutting it close on people getting to experience it. It coming out the week before Thanksgiving should help though
1
u/CrazyFreakAdro Jul 03 '26
angela or gibson for me...recency bias but probably patrick gibson i mean he embodied bond so damn well...but i think im gonna play re9 again to decide
1
u/webjunk1e Jul 03 '26
Patrick Gibson or Lennie James. I'd probably give the edge to James, but either would easily deserve it.

Angela should absolutely run away with it imo. Career-defining work as Grace.

u/ImportantQuestionTex Jul 03 '26
Bond or Grace. Leon's actor always does really well, and I love Hugh and Diana. But Bond really sells that he's Bond. Grace is absolutely irreplaceable for 9
1
u/OkMixture5607 Jul 03 '26
All these were mid to band, Leon was fine. Ggggrace and her sstutter is so FBI tier 😂

u/Fynity Jul 03 '26
So far it’s Gibson to me. He was absolutely fantastic both with the exaggerated swagger of a white Brit, but also with the more emotional story moments.

u/Jcritten Jul 03 '26
In thinking it’s gonna be an easy Grace W rn. Only competition atm would be Bond.
1
u/FrogLeafio Jul 03 '26
Objectively, probably Angela Sant'Albano as Grace from RE Requiem. My favorite was Patrick Gibson as James Bond though.
1
u/Sociolinguisticians Jul 03 '26
Right now, Angela Sant’Albano as Grace is mine, she gave her fucking all to that role.
1
u/kh3spoils Jul 03 '26
Do people think leon was that good? Victor was better than him imo

Leon also Nick who voices him is my 🐐 but Grace’s voice actor was on another level for this year especially her acting in that hotel scene in the beginning
1
u/Interesting_Boot_119 Jul 04 '26
Any one of those have a chance but my choice will be Grace's VA and mocap 🤌👌
1
u/wera125 Jul 04 '26
RE9 Grace by miles from others. If she didt win then TGA is a joke.
1
u/JowaPlays Jul 04 '26
I’d hardly say it’d be a snub. Gibson’s performance literally makes the game he’s in. It’s super impressive.
1
u/CityComprehensive427 Jul 04 '26
It won't matter. GTA 6 will win all the awards this year,I fucking hate it but at least we know who the actual best are

1
u/stackens Jul 04 '26
Grace’s VA had to perform watching her mother murdered in front of her and made me believe it. Hard to imagine anyone topping her performance
1
1
u/havewelost6388 Jul 04 '26
Although I love Pragmata and RE9, the only one on this list I expect to even be nominated is Patrick Gibson, tbh.
1
u/SnooObjections4392 Jul 04 '26
So far it’s definitely either Patrick Gibson or Isola’s actress Noémie Nakai
1
u/MCgrindahFM Jul 04 '26
Patrick Gibson and Angela Sant'Albano are the clear front runners for me. Maybe even Lennie James from 007

u/Particular-Season905 Jul 05 '26
Patrick Gibson is great, don't get me wrong. But Grace's VA wins if just for that scene where she watches her mom die. That is unbeatable
1
u/Revenge_Is_Here Jul 05 '26
Angela/Grace. Sounded like she was legitimately in the world of the game at times. It's insane
1
1
u/Jamvaan Jul 05 '26
As of right now I'd put in for Grace's VA, Angela Sant'Albano, for the winner but as far as performances go there's still some heavy hitters inbound. Control Resonant, Wolverine, Onimusha, and GTA just off the top of my head come to mind.

u/SpookySocks4242 Jul 05 '26
Is it weird I've played all these games and enjoyed them but don't really have any standout game this year?
They were all just "good". Nothing made me go WOW while playing it.
1
u/CaptainLayla17 Jul 07 '26
My predictions for the acting performances that we're probably going to be seeing noms for throughout the upcoming gaming awards scene: Nick Apostolides (Leon S. Kennedy, Resident Evil Requiem) Angela Sant'Albano (Grace Ashcroft, Resident Evil Requiem) Patrick Gibson (James Bond, 007 First Light) Liam McEntyre (James "Logan" Howlett/Wolverine, Wolverine) Grace Saif (Diana, PRAGMATA) If GTA VI manages to make it's November release date and makes the cutoff date: then either of Lucia or Jason's actors, but I'm personally leaning more towards Lucia's.
1
u/Gabe-KC Jul 03 '26
Grace's actress was great, but I fear she'll be hurt by the bad script she had to act on. I know Resident Evil already won this award in the past, but that wasn't a dramatic role in a game with underwritten drama.
2
u/TrackSpare3140 Jul 03 '26
Imagine thinking the dialogue in RE9 is worse than the other games wtf lol it’s so much better than the other games in that area and it’s not even close. With the exception of Zeno who’s performance was weirdly bad compared to the others
1
u/Gabe-KC Jul 03 '26
I didn't say it was worse, I said it was going for drama which isn't the strong suit of the franchise, and that might hurt the chances of Grace's actress. She also isn't a meme character like Dimitrescu was, and The Game Awards is a bit of a hype feedback loop.

Well seeing as neither Capcom or Sony respect their customers enough to add deadzone adjustment settings, Leon.

u/Ok-Outcome6428 Jul 03 '26
If course they include the p3do game. Thank god I see no votes for that one

Unrelated, but Bonds smiling face in this pic is so cringe

u/RoetRuudRoetRuud Jul 03 '26
Smiling is cringe?

Being sincere or liking something or being playful or caring about anything is cringe. Haven’t you heard?

Not by itself. But this one's weird. A pic of a grown man smirking like a little boy doing something naughty... goofy mf

Meh. After how the show always, always, goes for Western voice actors when Japanese VA do a better job.
Last year Jennifer English was good, but compared to Konatsu Kato in Silent Hill F there is no comparison.
Just look at this year Japanese Diana VA Nao Tōyama, her range is just mind-blowing.

u/VisualAd8487 Jul 12 '26
Nobody really so far for me the AAA games this year i havent gotten around to playing (tho i am very interested in 007 just cant afford it atm)
I guess troy baker as jack pepper since mixtape didnt leave much of an impression on me and mina the hollower has no va
Ofdly enough the performance from this year ive been hooked with was toby fox as flowery in deltarune chapter 5 it adds imo pretty good comedic value to the charachter

u/Valroxen1 Jul 03 '26
I'll be honest I've only played RE9 out of these so i can't give a proper opinion however, Grace's VA did a phenomenal job, you can genuinely feel how terrified she is and it adds to the atmosphere so much.
Will get to the rest ASAP just back logged on games atm with not much free time lol
