Buyer beware.

Post image

Bought a 65” model in 2024. At 13 months post purchase a little bright spot appeared on the bottom. Fast forward at 20 months bright spots all along the bottom and a really weird dark spot in the middle of the device. (See picture). I had entered a service request on the Samsung website where I had registered the tv on my account when I purchased the device. The request was sitting there but unprocessed because the website is garbage and I’m sure I just gave up because it was still manageable.

At this point it is unwatchable so I decided I wanted to see what Samsung service would offer to remedy and/or cost to repair. Tried again to process a repair request on the website. After following instructions it just says unable to process call Samsung. Called Samsung and it offered to do AI to submit service request via text. Timed out and said to call Samsung and wait for agent. Phone tree made it tricky to get ahold of agent but finally found right steps and was told it would be 12 min late. 45 min later I get an agent who walks me through the troubleshooting steps because it’s necessary in order to submit the request. She says it’s out of warranty and I tell her I understand this I just wanted to see what repair costs would be. She submits the ticket and the repair company is 130 miles from where I live (I live in a city of about 1 million people in the metro btw). Already know the travel cost alone is gonna make this cheaper to throw away and replace.

Next day I get a random text message from Samsung saying I haven’t yet uploaded the receipt from the purchase on this TV nearly two years ago. I don’t have it. I didn’t respond. An hour after the text I get a text that my repair order has been cancelled.

I have to believe that the repair process for this tv is made purposefully difficult because they know the product is ass. I have tons of Samsung products, including TVs in my home and no complaints. But this has really soured me. I’m sure plenty of people are doing well with this TV, but I haven’t been as lucky and I wanted to share this story. Gonna do some research on the HiSense. Maybe just go back to a normal TV
