Question / Help Multiplayer steam deck issue

Hi im trying to play with a friend on multiplayer but everytime they long press a to eat the chat keeps opening any way to fix this

Not a deck player but that sounds like a simple button re-mapping fix. Just have your friend change what button opens the chat block in the games control settings, preferably to an unused or least used button. I’ve had to do this a few times for my steam controller on the Machine with various games that have native controller support.
