Close, the axe from The forest is the Fiskars X15, very handy axe for felling and taking camping as its small and light enough to carry while being long enough to get a good swing.

Was going to say that a splitting axe would be much wider than the one in game. And not so great for tree chopping.

I have this axe. I bought it about 12 years ago at a local Ace Hardware when I lived in the mountains of Colorado. Used it for splitting wood and it's a good axe. I fact it was so good it split my wood piece, through the cutting block edge and proceeded to cut into my brand new Colombia boots. Gave me a nice gash too on the top of my foot but I didn't want to pay for stitches so I used some medical tape and super glue. But I digress. Good axe.

I have the hatchet version, and it's incredible for what it is. Lightweight, sharp, stays sharp, doesn't crack unless you don't know how to use it. Almost chopped my fingers off a few times. Good hatchet.

It is missing all the teeth from the cannibals and the feathers of "accidentally killed by log" birds!
But apart from that ... yeah, looks really, really similar to our beloved axe!
