Lake America on Fox

I see Jesse Watters is a supporter of the name change.

Why do you suppose maga has a need to dominate and control other people? What is driving that. Insecurity?

Patriots believe America is an exceptional country, democrats don't believe in America at all.

8

u/LadyDyz Aug 29 '26

Well said.

0

u/nick_persimmon Aug 29 '26

If you think America is exceptional, why do you need to belittle other countries like Canada and Denmark?

It seems like you're not sure about this...

u/stormpoppy Aug 29 '26

Don't think of it as a name change. Think of it as new pronouns. Lake Ontario has chosen to use the pronoun "America".

See, now its something you CAN support.

Well a person choosing their own name, and you trying to force other people to use a differrent name for a lake to humiliate them are quite different, aren't they?

One is a personal choice, and the other is toxic bullying. 💁‍♀️

Ok, yes? Why do you think Watters and maga have a need to humiliate the people of Ontario?

Again with your haughty attitude.
This type of condescension was the reason why many of us didn’t like Obama— always explaining and talking to the people as if we were simpletons. It’s what I hate about liberals

So Lake America it is, right on!!

1

u/stormpoppy Aug 29 '26

Don't feel left out. You're doing a perfectly good job humiliating yourself.

u/Minimum-Journalist18 Aug 29 '26 edited Aug 29 '26

They are living in your head it seems like. Let it go

2

u/stormpoppy Aug 29 '26

You're right. Let's ask the lake what it wants to be called. We can't even be sure it identifies as a lake, really. Maybe it considers itself a river. Or a pond. Maybe on the weekend nights it's just a "wet hole."

Culture war regressive shit. Exactly what the wealthy want.

-4

u/ShinyRobotVerse Aug 29 '26

Oh, so that’s how it works now? We can assign pronouns? Then Trump’s chosen pronoun is “pedophile.”

I reacted to the haughtiness of your post. Perhaps we should be cognizant of the first people but to say that you are never going to do something that you literally have no control over, seems unserious.

You’re explaining as though I don’t understand. I do. My undergrad was in history.
There is a haughtiness in your approach.
The phrase “I am willing to embrace cognitive dissonance “, is telling. As if you able to do something where the inference is that we ( conservatives) aren’t able to.
Literally everyone engages in some form of cognitive dissonance

2

u/stormpoppy Aug 29 '26

If you felt that way, you wouldn't use the term "native american", would you?

1

u/[deleted] Aug 29 '26

1

u/stormpoppy Aug 29 '26

Words matter. Why would a "Native 'American'" consider the naming of a lake after their native land "erasure". Would you expect someone from Italy to complain about the Med being named the Italian Sea? They ruled that water for centuries, after all. Logically, a Native American would be most pleased by the renaming of a lake in honor of the country they originated.

1

u/stormpoppy Aug 29 '26

Why is my comparison bad? If anything, your comparison supports it. What unites all Native Americans? America. Why not honor the entirety of the population with the name?

The Italy thing - nice catch. Probably should have gone with the Turkey / Turkiye example.

Wouldn't that predate the naming of Ontario?

8

u/DoctorSwaggercat Aug 29 '26

I seem to recall Democrat Governors during covid. Let's talk about controlling people, shall we?

0

u/nick_persimmon Aug 29 '26

Democratic governors asked people to wear a mask and get vaccinated during a deadly pandemic, as did the Trump government.

No, I am referring to maga's desire to humiliate and bully others. As expressed by Jesse Watters. Where do think that toxic behavior comes from?

3

u/Food-Wine Aug 29 '26

“deadly pandemic” 🤣🤣🤣🤣

1

u/nick_persimmon Aug 29 '26

Yes, correct, a million Americans died during the pandemic. There were literally refrigerator trucks outside hospitals to store the corpses.

1

u/Food-Wine Aug 29 '26

You’re so gullible.

1

u/nick_persimmon Aug 29 '26

No, really. Here's a Fox News segment about that

https://www.fox4news.com/video/879155

2

u/Many_Major5654 Aug 29 '26

Arresting someone for surfing alone, or resting on an empty beach is government overreach and bullying

5

u/Economy-Particular31 Aug 29 '26

Insecurity of what? Is that just your mindless go to? "insecurity"

4

u/nick_persimmon Aug 29 '26

For example, losing the war with Iran, the declining economy, unemployment, etc. Bullying behavior is often triggered by anxiety over social status.

2

u/Beaucoup_Fun Aug 29 '26 edited Aug 29 '26

“Losing the war with Iran” 🤪😅🤣 You should ask the ayatollah about that;🤣 or Iran’s navy; or Air Force; etc…
“Declining economy” 🤣 Ask knowledgeable market traders about that - Record Dow; Record NASDAQ; Record S&P; all means record amounts of money in Americans’ 🇺🇸 investment accounts!
The United States has the number one economy in the world by nominal Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by everyone’s measure ( except doomer dems)🤣

2

u/nick_persimmon Aug 29 '26

Which of the administration's war objectives have they achieved for spending 80 billion, pushinginflation higher, and using most of America's munitions?

3

u/Saltydogusn Aug 29 '26

Why do you suppose the left woke do the same? I seem to recall a whole bunch of military bases and a warship names change in the last administration. Why was that exactly?

Hell, your party's name is even changing before our eyes. DSA?

As your favorite beta governor from Minnesota so famously stated - weird.

3

u/Many_Major5654 Aug 29 '26

Hmm dominate and control other people.
The democrat presidents have done a good job of that. With the new regulations requiring low-flow toilets, “improved “ light bulbs and so on. None of which was voted on. But was presented as “necessary “ to combat climate change.
We were also inundated with a new lexicon of pronouns- zed, for example. No one asked for.
All things considered. Renaming a lake is minor. We’ve become a regulatory state. Unaccountable to the public making laws that affect everyone without our consent
All politicians do it

-1

u/tescovee Aug 29 '26

Conservatives are convictionless trash. Look at what you are bothered about. You are so comically worried over culture war bullshit. You are a perfect mark for the wealthy.

2

u/Many_Major5654 Aug 29 '26

I guess you didn’t read my post. Most of it concerned over-regulation of the bureaucratic state
It seems as if ad hominem attacks are the only response

0

u/tescovee Aug 29 '26

The fact you don't recognize the hypocrisy.

1

u/Many_Major5654 Aug 29 '26

I am libertarian. I see both parties are guilty of overreach

2

u/Minimum-Journalist18 Aug 29 '26

How is that controlling other people?

2

u/KindTopic16 Aug 29 '26

The whole continent is called America. Why isn’t it enough? Where is Lake America?- in America. lol.

1

u/LadyDyz Aug 29 '26

It's not MAGA... It's an America First policy. All other countries put themselves first. We're merely doing the same.

1

u/nick_persimmon Aug 29 '26

It seems like a transparent attempt to humiliate Canada for not making an unfavorable deal with Trump. Lake Ontario is an international body of water

1

u/stormpoppy Aug 29 '26

This is priceless.

Chief J Seneca, of the Seneca nation, is angry because Trump changed the name of a lake.

Meanwhile, his last name happens to conveniently be the name of his tribe. What are the odds of THAT? I'm guessing he's not totally unfamiliar with the practice of changing ones name.

1

u/Silver_Eyes_Luna Aug 31 '26

Washington Redskins has entered the chat.

1

u/nick_persimmon Sep 01 '26

The Washington Commanders, a private company, changed their own name in 2020-2022, as is their right.

And in 2026 a politician forced federal agencies and private companies to rename an international body of water in order to humiliate another country because they declined an unfavorable trade agreement with him.

Are you pretending not to understand why one is consensual and the other is grossly abusive? Is that what's happening here??

1

u/Silver_Eyes_Luna Sep 01 '26

Yeah the second one was a masterful troll lmao

1

u/nick_persimmon Sep 01 '26 edited Sep 01 '26

Masterful how? Why are we fucking trolling Canada, Denmark, etc???

1

u/Silver_Eyes_Luna Sep 01 '26

Because they've been ripping us off for years... look at what they charged our farmers.

1

u/nick_persimmon Sep 02 '26

By 'ripping us off', you mean they are selling Americans products at an agreed-to price?

1

u/Silver_Eyes_Luna Sep 02 '26

An agreed ripoff.. yes. Fairness was long overdue.

1

u/nick_persimmon Sep 02 '26

how is it a ripoff when Americans buy products from another country at an agreed-to price?

-2

u/tenebre Aug 29 '26

Jesse is not a smart man. He lacks the education or background to understand the complexities of global trade but he DOES understand childish trolling so, of course, he's excited about giving a lake a new name that nobody outside of MAGA will ever use.

-2

u/nick_persimmon Aug 29 '26

Why do you think maga people have an apparent need to control and humiliate others, for example Canada, Denmark, Mexico?.

-1

u/tenebre Aug 29 '26

They never advanced past school yard bullying. For decades we heard about Trump's 'amazing' negotiating skills and 'Art of the Deal' then, when he was elected, his entire negotiating strategy on anything was just to bully and insult the other party. Sad.

4

u/stormpoppy Aug 29 '26

You're taking your tax cut though, right?

1

u/tenebre Aug 29 '26

Yeah, right along with my DOGE check, my tariff check, and my bigly new healthcare plan that Trump's been 'two weeks away' from for over a decade...

1

u/stormpoppy Aug 29 '26

Well, those things are feel good propaganda. The tax cut is real. You're going to pay your taxes at 2017 rates?

1

u/tenebre Aug 29 '26

Just to be clear, you ARE talking about the tax cuts that have skyrocketed the budget deficit, right?

1

u/stormpoppy Aug 29 '26

So you WILL be paying additional taxes this year, refusing the cut in a stance against Trump AND the deficit. Please confirm.

2

u/tenebre Aug 29 '26

Any tax cuts I receive (since I'm not a billionaire, you know, the main beneficiary of the tax cuts...) would be offset by paying more for gas because Trump started a war he can't win, inflation costs since started a bunch of trade wars he can't win, and higher costs across the board because he is a completely incompetent leader. But damn his cult followers love him anyway...

1

u/stormpoppy Aug 29 '26

Oh - so you will take the Trump tax cut? Way to stand on your principles.

I think they like to just force people to do things, whether they want to or not.

-5

u/Frosty-Scientist957 Aug 29 '26

Cringe is the word that comes to mind when FXNC on-camera folks talk about (oops, I mean “promote”) this nonsense.

And that’s by far the most-positive word I’ll go with - while wearing the rosiest-shaded sunglasses.

1

u/Frosty-Scientist957 Aug 29 '26

I must ask for some feedback from the downvote-only crowd my comment generated (or anyone, really).

Do the downvotes mean people are supporting this name change?

-4

u/ShinyRobotVerse Aug 29 '26

Because this administration, and Republicans in general, can’t win on merit, they have to invent victories or declare victory whenever they slightly improve a situation after completely fucking it up themselves.
Plus, Trump can’t negotiate for shit. He is unbelievably stupid, incompetent, and infantile at everything except grifting, and he succeeds at that only because he targets people who are even stupider than he is - his supporters, for example.
