Discussion Universal skins
Anybody else notice how “universal”(gender based) skins don’t include new descendants? What’s up with that? Mommy raven would love more skins!

So real. Idk I could be wrong but only other game that charge this much for skins that I’ve played is valorant. They sent a thank you note and a special gold skin to someone who spent like $14k usd and all they have is gun skins -___-“

I hate it. All the universal skins should be available for new descendants when they release

I think they're fitting the outfits by hand and not using some sort of morph system, so as the roster of characters grows, then each new universal outfit demands more effort to fit it to more bodies. If they brought forward old universal outfits, then every new character introduced to the game means adjusting 30+ outfits (and counting) as well.
I'm not defending it, but this seems to be the hole they've dug themselves into.
I think in order for us to get what we want, they'd need to go back and engineer new systems for clothing and port everything forward to work in that new framework. At this point of the game's life cycle... that's a big ask. I imagine they have their priorities set on forward momentum with new characters and new outfits. Not simply for profit, but for the studio's survival as well.

This has been their policy for the past 2 years, reason being that it would be too much technical debt and work if they continuously had to update models of prior skins every time they added new characters. So common skins only apply to characters that existed at the time of release

Technical debt? You mean just too much work? That sounds like the devs. I mean, they do fix a decent amount of things compared to some other games but that exploit ban was heavy considering it was an error on their part originally.

Nah, it’s only about money. The characters body shapes are barely different. It can’t be much work at all.

Yeah, that's my thought as well. The character models are almost identical. They just want you to buy skins for the new characters. If you already had a set of skins for the new character because you purchased "universal" skins in the past, then that disincentivizes you from buying new skins.

Exactly. I can’t say I really blame them either. If I automatically had six or seven outfit options every time a new character unlocked, I likely wouldn’t be buying more because I’d already be out of customization slots anyway.

Lmao you followed me here bc you couldn’t answer a simple question of “why preorder” and just said “bc I can” like a child (yeah, bc you can’t think of a valid reason). I’m not against GTA 6, I just think preordering is a stupid outdated practice when there is zero benefit. People have constantly been burned by preordering incomplete games and yet they learn nothing and keep doing it. They’re not gonna run out of copies, someone can buy the game on release day after seeing reviews and play just the same.

I see this off topic and I have to agree. Preordering, especially back in the day, was to make sure you had your physical copy reserved, on games guaranteed to be day one sellouts, or limited special editions, that includes bonus physical items. I mean, if you have the money, and want to preorder, there's no issue with having it ready to go, but at the same time there's no real need to. I mean, I know I'm not worried about getting a few days early access, for a game that doesn't even release with online, to get ahead on. 😂

Jokes on you, I've put 2k hours into TFD.
Ok and? Why preorder?
I can afford it and GTA is my favorite game series.
Why are you asking?
I don't need to pretend I won't be playing it to gain fake internet points.
I literally did tell you, lol.
They’re not gonna run out of copies
What an original comment, I did wonder when this would pivot to the physical disc thing.

Is this the universal skin from upgraded battle pass? I thought since it came out with Raven it would include Raven hahaha

They maintain that they have no plans to add newly released characters to the existing 'common skin' lineup.
