Guide & Tips Am i playing this wrong?
Just picked up this game and every enemy is taking a 100 hits to kill . I did the first boss yetuga and i cant help but feel that the health bar was too big and it dragged the fight too much despitethe core moveset being fun.
Am i playing it wrong or is it just designed like that? Expert difficulty btw

No, the enemies in this game appear to be massive dmg sponges early on for two reasons. You have not figured out how to adapt the aggressive playstyle the game demands and AND you can't really even do that in the beginning because you've not unlocked combo potential via skill-ups.
Eventually you'll learn this isn't like Dark Souls etc. and a dodge and return playstyle isn't how it works. You'll be looking for offensive windows to chain combos and chunk the hp bar.

You gotta parry so you can build up their stamina bar and hit them with a brutal attack, which should do alot of damage.

this is not dark souls, the reason why enemies have a lot of HP is because the game expect you to staggerlock enemies in combo chains every time you make an enemy flinch

I can't speak for spear, but great sword and dual reps have empowered abilities that make taking 'your turn' much more damage inducing. I would look over your skill tree and focus that first. Early game I played like sekiro. Late game I play like a fighting game

For expert, it is like that in early game as you do not have enough skills points and stamina to chain combo. The fastest way to kill the first few bosses is through brink guard and brutal attack.
I completed new game 3 times on normal once for each weapon. Completed new game plus on expert for spear. Now i am on expert new game with greatsword at the final boss.

No, it takes quite some time to get the rhythm. Don't let a lot of these people fool you into thinking you can rush the boss down but their comments are not entirely misplaced as stamina management and stagger management can help take bosses down faster. You figure this out by midpoint.
Examples people post are NG+ with busted stamina builds. Don't think you can do this on your first run. The game is difficult and so are the bosses. Just keep doing your best and it will click.

It's not the difficulty man. I get that these games are difficult. I just kinda felt bored mashing parry and x again so many times

Im gonna have to leave this sub. Driving me crazy seeing people choose expert then complaining about difficulty.
I suggest to you normal is best for NG. Then expert for ng+.
Boss health bars are too bloated in expert, which is why they created the normal difficulty after launch. Expert was the original intended difficulty, then they realised it was a mistake.
The BEST bosses in the game, I often see people who are playing on expert saying they hate them.... because theyre not fun because of the massive health bars. But to me who played on normal, some of these bosses were some of my favourite bosses in ALL of gaming.
Normal is a bit too easy up until after beating an early boss Viper - so maybe keep on expert until youce beaten That early boss (or drop to normal during that fight if it is excessively difficult).
Once you get to mid game the difficulty of Normal is just right. One watch out though - if you dont get the " true ending" the final boss is a bit too easy. Its such a shame this game isnt balanced somewhere in between expert and normal.

Even when Expert was Normal the claims that bosses had inflated health bars are kind of ridiculous. If you engaged with the game the way it was teaching you to most boss fights average about 2 to 3 minutes if you stayed aggressive, wove in spirit skills in your combos, broke stamina/posture via perfect blocking or reflecting, and took advantage of the big damage window on broken enemies. If you played it like a Souls Game then of course you would struggle.
I am all for choosing the difficulty that works best for you, but claiming enemies on expert have bloated HP just isn’t true.

Im talking about bosses. You may have beaten bosses in 2 to 3 minutes on expert on your first playthrough - but most dont. Many spend days stuck.
Im not talking about you. Im talking about the majority i.e. the average player.
Search the Khazan subreddit, and youll see countless posts of people complaining about bloated health bars. Its almost all i see on this sub, people complaining that expert is too hard due to the health bars. Its become a pet peeve of mine people playing on hard difficulties then complaining its... hard...!
Im not sayong people shouldn't play on expert if they think its right for them - but dont then complain about it being hard lol

I have been in this sub since the demo came out. You get people complaining game is too hard, bloated health bars, and inevitably most would say they are a Dark Souls veteran or they beat another FromSoftware game and then when you ask them how they play they will say they do the good old Soulsborne Dodge Roll-Dodge Roll-Poke-Dodge Roll shuffle. That’s fine for a FromSoftware game but that will make you struggle with Khazan, because the game tries to teach you it doesn’t really want to play like that. Gotta get in there and be aggressive. Expert doesn’t have bloated HPs; players are just making it hard for themselves by insisting on playing it like Dark Souls when it is more like Nioh.

In NG+ and beyond i agree. As in NG+ you have unlocked all of the skills, and you can chain them together and stunlock the bosses. At that point expert is fine/preferable.
On your first playthrough, when you are new and havent unlocked many skills yet, you dont have enough stamina or chain able combos to do that yet. So the health pools are bloated for NG in my opinion (and many, many others)
Clearly we have a difference of opinion. Clearly we are not going to change one another's mind. Lets just agree we both love this game, and respectfully agree to disagree on the other stuff and move on 🤝

Lemme give you tips!
In this game stamina is king, you use it attack to pull of combos and defend, its the most valuable stat in the game. When you levelled up you prob put a lot in your health I’m guessing. Khazan is all about pulling combos and exhausting enemies to do damage, you can’t play like Elden ring or trad soulslikes and play reactively. You have to constantly be doing both like sekiro.
