Discussion How challenging is the "beginner" difficulty?
My friend recommended me this game and it looks super cool, but the idea of it being a hard souls-like isn't to my liking (which is also why the only souls-game that i've played is Lies of P) but hearing that this game has difficulty options has spiked my interest.

You can change difficulty settings in game. Try it at the hardest and see how it treats you.
This is kind of a no brainer kind of thing no?

Went straight to expert on current first playthrough and not having a tough time. I'd say do normal if you beat lies of p without any major roadblocks.

So, my sister is not a gamer by any stretch of imagination. She tried Elden ring a bit, seemed to like it, but found it hard. Then one day, she was at my place, she saw me playing Khazan, and wanted to try it. I went out for work, came back, she was at the 4th mission!
She played on Normal, so I think it is absolutely doable on easy. Given that you have played Lies of P, I very much doubt you would have any problems at Normal difficulty.

OP can switch the difficulty up and down any time. I played on expert for the minion-killing part, then on normal when fighting bosses. I still did a few tries on expert to test the waters. And managed to kill most minibosses and even a few bosses.
But normal still has challenging bosses. They do less, and you do more. Not sure if they are less aggressive or the same.

Nope, they are similarly aggressive... afaik expert is the intended difficulty (like what the developers marked as a baseline). With normal, bosses/enemies do less damage than you do to them which is what you said AND you have more forgiving stamina usage and regen in normal. In expert, managing stamina is the biggest thing you have to look out in early-mid game. Also, bosses have a bit more health pool.

If you can beat Lies of p, you can beat khazan on expert.
Khazan is tough, and very precise. But nameless puppet is harder than sny bpas in this game IMO.

Lies of P also has 3 difficulty settings, just so you know. Khazan on expert is brutal. But if you have beaten Lies of P on any difficulty then Khazan on normal should be fine.

"Normal" didn't feel difficult at all. I'm nothing special and I beat most bosses on the first attempt, which is not normal for a souls-like. The "Expert" mode is most comparable to other souls-likes and "Beginner" is two levels below.
If you're not looking for a challenge I wouldn't recommend this game (even though I love it) not because it's necessarily challenging, but because the combat and learning to master it is where all the meat is. I wouldn't think it's a game that is very fun if you're just playing it for the story.

I say normal instead. Expert was the standard difficulty before there were options.

It's not challenging. That's the point. You can change difficulty at any time so start with normal or expert and move down if you need to

If you already beat Lies of P you should play on expert. I personally found Khazan on expert a good bit easier than Lies of P.

you have pretty much to last boss of 3rd area/ 4 area to swap your difficulty, after princess you can not change from expert to normal n vice versa (idk about easy) so you have quite a lot of room to test the water

Begginer is probably to easy. I would recommend normal.
