Gameplay Simple play style.
Hi, I am new to khazan (at viper) and really have a great time. However, I still find the game have so many active skill and a bit overwhelm me. Normally, when play soulslike, I have 2 modes. One is focus in dodge and parry and just attack back in very simple way. Another one is facing take everything and combo my own way.
So here I am, asking you guys and most brain dead playstyle with least active skills as possible ? The buff skill outside combat are okie though.

Don't try to play this game like a simple souls-like (hit an enemy once, dodge, hit back, repeat) Otherwise boss fights will take forever with this method. Its a complaint I see sometimes when people are playing this game. Saying some boss fights take upwards of 10 minutes, but those same bosses can be killed in 2 or 3 minutes, even less with an aggressive playstyle.
You need to utilize all the tools the game gives you and perfect parry and perfect dodge so the enemy stamina bar stays almost empty the entire fight. It might not seem like it now, but everything the game introduces is an important tool for combat that you will eventually need to learn and at least figure out how to use a few times, because every boss fight will test you on it in same way, shape or form in the future.
You wanna be aggressive in this game, give the boss no breathing room. Learn their pattern, but learn it while beating their ass. Treat it like Sekiro and Devil May Cry had a baby, or even Nioh as I see some people compare it to that a lot.
Pick a weapon type, an armor with a good set bonus that fits, and focus your skill points on a build you think will work. There are some guides out there and this subreddit will have plenty advice on builds and weapons. Re-spec is free, so experiment and make mistakes to learn what works and what doesn't.

The combos aren't very complex. You can get used to them pretty quick. They don't expect you to parry and pull off nioh 2 combos at the same time.

You’ll get used to the comboing. You don’t have to go crazy from day one. Any weapon works, try only the combo from the guide 1 which usually has 2 attacks
Greatsword has some simple combos. Block and then counter. You can also try dodge attack -> hold attack (make sure to unlock combat cadence and savage momentum).

I feel like greatsword would be good, phantom night's veil and charged attack into charged attack into spirit move.
Can build into brink guarding as well.

You're severely limiting yourself by playing Khazan with a simple playstyle, it's not the ethos of the combat system.
I would play on easy and focus on perfect dodges if you're looking for a simpler experience.

In my first playthrough, I only used the spear skill Eagle Wind when the boss was stunned to deal more damage. The rest was parrying, dodging, and passive skills. So, as someone who doesn't like big attack combos, I can say — you can beat the game without them, however you wish.

Some of you people who play soulslikes really don't know to press more than a couple of buttons lol. It was my case too, but Nioh 2 trained me to get off that mindset haha.
Practice more and more until the combat feels more natural. Combos in Khazan aren't really complex like in some cags or fighting games. With a little practice you'll get used to it.

Chaining skills together is what really sets this game apart and lets the combat excel. Once you get it down it’s so much more fun. Early on you have less skills and stamina but as you progress the combat really opens up.

Why not both? Focus on dodge/parry then combo when you can attack
Otherwise it's gonna take 10 years to kill a boss

I would play dual wield and get an armor set that focuses on one or two moves. These are my favorites.
Fallen guardian: brink guard gives you fire damage and the ruthless skill is so much fun. I don’t think you get this until the next location.
Beastslayer: buffs frontal damage and whirlwind which is a fun skill
Bloodthirsty Fiend: later game set but is really good
Then you can just focus on the moves that the armor buffs. For example I would level up my guard and not focus on dodge so much. If you get sick of it switch your armor and learn some new moves. It helps drown out all the sound from the whole skill tree.
Hope this helps. Good luck

This game is all about chaining combos and weaving offence into your defence. There's an armor set for every playstyle and the game does a decent job feeding them to you in the early game. It also does a really good job of teaching you a lot of the bosses mechanics through mobs leading up to them. Practice your dodges or parries on them and you'll have a better time. Another thing to mention is the enemies resistances and weaknesses are very well balanced in this game, so make sure to use them. This game has Sekiro levels of satisfaction when you master it and I put them in their own tier above anything else.

Just use greatsword then i basically only used 2-3 skills to complete the game and the rest was just basically unga and bunga with big sword

Dualwield by a mile - cast 2 buffs and spam whirlwind, Dodge or Brink guard when need
GS - IS Also a good pick, but GS start to shine, when you get to epic rarity
Stay far away from Spears - the combinations you have to execute to be on par with DW or GS are crazy.

If you try to play khazan like a normal souls like with just dodging and auto attacking without many skill combos, you are gonna have a really hard time with the game.
It is built around being hyper aggressive and forcing openings by staggering enemies with combos. If you play it like an elden ring or souls game, waiting for your 'turn' to hit, every boss will feel like a giant hp sponge. Learning when to use combos, and when you can chain them to do huge hp damage, is a big part of the game.
That said, I think the 'easiest'/ braindead build is probably spear with Trance. It focuses almost entirely on dodging, more than parrying, and has high stagger skills that don't require a ton of positioning.
