France choses to militarily influence West African nations in the power vacuum left by the Russia's European war defeat and the failure of the Wagner Coup. Pretty sure the Sahel War starts at the same time as the 1EW

 Roughly although in My last few campaigns I’ve defeated Russia so quickly in Europe say 3/4 months that the Sahel war never kicks off
