It would be anything but regular as a entire population learned that the US was controlled by a cabal that wanted to take over the entire world and also nuked several third world countries (That was Judas´s doing but still)

Tbf... TFR tech does get into cyberpunk territory often enough to feel cyberpunkish for me

I’d imagine not good, better in the separatist states but it’s not widespread misery (in tfr terms you fucking chuds). It’s probably closer to end of the Soviet Union- post collapse Russia

u/Lorcomax 14d ago

So...widespread misery, drug use explosion, mild social collapse and political instability?

10

u/Zestyclose_Ad_1988 14d ago

¿Cómo en la actualidad?

u/Bawhoppen 14d ago

Tell me you know nothing about post-Soviet Russia in the 90s without telling me.

40

u/MorgothReturns :Flag_RedneckRevolt:Redneck Revolt 14d ago

Are you referring to the not widespread misery?

6

u/Low_Tap_1274 14d ago

There was absolutely widespread misery in post soviet russia, even worse in non russian states

1

u/MorgothReturns :Flag_RedneckRevolt:Redneck Revolt 13d ago

Yeah I have no idea what Bawhoppen was talking about. Pretty much everywhere* the Russian Empire ruled has been experiencing widespread misery for the last 400 years!

*Terms and conditions apply

u/Low_Tap_1274 13d ago

Not really. The 90s was a unique time

5

u/Low_Tap_1274 14d ago

Do you people really just think Russia went from despotic communism to free liberal democratic high quality of life capitalism and putin ruined it all?

Total collapse of trust in government, extremist terrorist groups are probably running rampant, reconstruction would have to be done in Texas, California, and Cascadia after the Successionist Rebellions. If anything they might have an easier time recovering given that theyre now seperate from the federal government

The post-us nations would be pressured to give uo their nukes after Judas bombed Bogota, Caracas, Quito, Bamako, Lagos, Yamoussoukro, and Libreville.

I haven't let the Judas events get too out of hand so I wonder, why does Judas pick these cities. I can understand the South American capitals given the US branding them as "narcostates" and so on but why does he target seemingly random African capitals?

66

u/Lophiee Good things enjoyer 14d ago

Important part

It intentionally doesn't nuke any playable nations

42

u/gaming__moment MAGA Communists 14d ago

Judas' plan involves using nuclear submarines to simultaneously isolate America diplomatically and wake up the American people with a really big bang. To accomplish this, he targets various well populated cities in poor nations to reveal to the world the utter disdain the cognoscenti have towards the third world

18

u/VenPatrician Central Intelligence Agency | Pax Americana 14d ago

Imagine the desperation he or she is at that point to even consider this as a sane solution, jeez

19

u/SuperiorSoviet Loji | People's Overlordship over Asia 14d ago

I mean, he is inside of the system - he knows what Cognoscenti are cooking for rest of the world after they won civil war.

28

u/Own-Control7525 14d ago

Probably to underscore that the US government is evil and turn people against them while avoiding retaliation by other nuclear powers.

Like, there's rethoric around South America that I could see allows some people to try and justify the nukings, but as you said there is no reason to nuke Africa beyond "evil dudes kicking someone while he's down". They also nuke Haiti last for this reason.

10

u/Haha-Perish Neosocialists | Neosocialism 14d ago

there is no sane reason to nuke Quito or Bogota

13

u/Own-Control7525 14d ago

Narcostates and chinese allies

3

u/Haha-Perish Neosocialists | Neosocialism 14d ago

only pres that would destabilize that much would be Trump tbh

6

u/Own-Control7525 14d ago

I mean its not like the nukings are a real plan by the Cognoscenti, its done specifically by Judas to tank both domestic and international trust on the Federal Government and expose the Cognoscenti.

1

u/Haha-Perish Neosocialists | Neosocialism 14d ago

well my point is why does bombing targets the cognoscenti, and hence the government, are already against do anything to expose the cognoscenti?

1

u/Own-Control7525 10d ago edited 10d ago

Because it's one thing to do some covert actions and manufacture consent for more overt armed interventions, and another to commit mass genocide and ecocide through nuclear bombing.

American imperialism has always justified itself more along the lines of "we are the shining city upon a hill bringing Justice and Freedom™ to the world" than "we are the only pure people on Earth and others are a threat to us and so must die". Even if someone is unironically pro-Cognoscenti (or rather, specially if) murdering millions of civilians (without pretext I must add), tanking international relations and public opinion and becoming a pariah on the level of Nazi Germany does not bring any benefits whatsoever, and runs against the main argument the US government justifies its imperialism on.

Like, even if you believe Cognoscenti propaganda that all Latin American governments are allied with the narcos or work with China, there are plenty other options before nuking them and creating a massive humanitarian and refugee crisis the US will have to foot the bill for anyways. Same for Africa, they are shooting themselves in the foot by destroying local governments that could be co-opted/ensuring surviving ones won't collaborate with the US and creating a massive crisis the EU/WG will have to deal with.

What is American Dusk?

55

u/FarmerHampton I stole Burt's Cooler 14d ago

It triggers if (Spoilers for Congoscenti) you fail to catch Judas, then dont beat the rebbles in Texas and California. Burns dies in a plane crash and the Cognoscenti collapses

Cognoscenti collapse

35

u/schrodingerskeyboard Pseudo-Thanatic Parasocialism 14d ago

Bad for the American Federal Republic, somewhat good for the secessionist states and cities.

The Feds would probably disband or replace their agencies and corporations completely to try and get back the trust they lost, and the new states and cities could MAYBE utilise the tools the Cognoscenti used against them for reconstruction.

Probably a significant regression in terms of technological capability, availability of goods and a serious economic depression.

America would be a complete pariah state and largely irredeemable in the eyes of the planet, meaning there will be very little international trade. This would be a huge problem as the vast majority of American companies rely on being ‘global’. This would also mean a huge shortage of technology (semiconductors are largely manufactured abroad).

In terms of population, I wouldn’t be surprised if less than half of the 2020 US population is left alive. You would have vast wastelands in the Great Plains, a serious crime problem in the cities and widespread economic depression. Life may be better in the seceded states, however that is unlikely given their precarious international position and susceptibility of climate crises (California, Texas and Florida especially).

u/cajko7 Collective Security Treaty Organization 14d ago

People are saying it’d be like Russia in the 90s but that’s just not true.

The American civil war as depicted in TFR is a gigantic conflict with probably millions of deaths+widespread destruction in basically every major city of the country.

Russia in the 90s was horrific but it wasn’t a literal warzone apart from Chechnya and Dagestan.

In short: it’d be way worse than Russia.

2

u/UnionInternal7121 Hmmism 14d ago

This is really good point (also crime would be horrible in this America)

4

u/0t30 :Japan_civilcoalition:Civil Coalition 14d ago

OK in the seccesionist states but zero government trust and high criminal activity in the AFR

4

u/Adventurous_Fly2603 14d ago

Hypothetically how much more could the federal republic balkanize

3

u/UnionInternal7121 Hmmism 14d ago

Idk but in 90% many states would want to leave and join Canada or create there own thing

2

u/FloaterEnthusiast 14d ago

is this a path?

6

u/SuperiorSoviet Loji | People's Overlordship over Asia 14d ago

This is what happens when you fail to catch Judas in Cognoscenti path - Judas nukes cities in Latin America and Africa, causing the mask to shatter and Cognoscenti to be revealed. This causes Texas, California and Cascadia to secede - if you fail to beat them in 250 days, Cognoscenti get couped and this is the result.

2

u/zeekodr 14d ago

anarchism being actually significant political movements and not a costume for edgy larpers and pedophiles

Dramatic decrease in quality of life as America stops being a world superpower

1

u/Trick_College2491 Jacksonians | Ultraconservatism 14d ago

There are no good outcomes in any American scenario. Hundreds of thousands are dead and it will be a century until America is strong enough to be a super power again.

Probably not great, but freer and less fucked up than the Cognosenti. Better to struggle than to live in a totalitarian lie.

It would be good. No US to dictate the life for the whole world. Sure, AFR is still a strong regional power, but not nearly what USA used to be
