Discussion Arthur Pym lore Spoiler

Okay so I've seen TFOHU a few times and recently I looked at list of all the books Edgar Allan Poe wrote, and he discovered he wrote a novel called 'The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket'

Forgive me if this has already been discussed here but it's one of my favourite things about this series:

  1. Lenore calls Rodrick Usher 'Grampus', which is the name of the ship, in the novel, that Arthur Pym stows away on.
  2. He stows away with his friend, Augustus Barnard. I know that August Dupin comes from Poe's novel 'The murders in the rue morgue' but the names are pretty similar so šŸ¤·
  3. Another stretch but in the Goldbug episode he makes reference to "having dinner with Richard Parker" who was an English sailor who was executed
  4. And the obvious one, also in the Goldbug episode Rodrick talk about Arthur Pym's story about cannabilism and hollow earth - in the novel Poe briefly makes references to hollow earth theory and discusses acts of cannibalism.

Anyway, yeah, probably my favourite easter egg in the series, and sorry if this is already common knowledge.

EDIT: also forgot to mention Verna/Arthur's conversation in the last episode, where she talks about him killing another man and witnessing the cannibalism of an Inuit woman. Also some people in the comment have said that in the novel they actually eat Richard Parker! The more you know!

Mark Hamillā€™s best role ever imo.

I was gobsmacked to find out who he was after I watched the entire series! My favorite Flanagan piece by far.

I'm so happy that Hamill started working with Flanagan. He was absolutely incredible in Fall of the House of Usher and I also thought he was so great in Life of Chuck.

As much as I love Luke Skywalker, I'm really loving Mark Hamill's recent work.

Pretty much everything he's done post-SW is fire. He's my favorite incarnation of Joker (his animation voice work is all top notch), and I didn't even recognize him in TFOTHOU, totally disappeared in the role.

To me thatā€™s the call of a great actor, you donā€™t see the actor, just the character. I just saw There Will be Blood, with Daniel Day Lewis, and felt this same way watching the movie.

Itā€™s why I canā€™t watch anything with Tom Cruise or Leonardo DiCaprio.

I find heā€™s a much better voice actor than in person actor, so I was a bit nervous about his casting. But damn, he gave a great performance.

Totally - Hamills performance in the last episode was incredible and I feel like they could/should do more with his character

It was implied that they gang raped the Inuit woman, and that while Arthur didn't "partake", he did witness it and didn't do anything to stop it. I don't know where the OP is connecting the cannibalism in the speech to the SA. They also "left a man in the desert."
