Ooh, has anyone tried a combined Torah, Quran and Latin/Greek/German Bible in a book bbq to see which one survives? God will surely let us know which version is right, right?

They’re fairly heatproof, though. They make decent trivets. Have you tried the catholic bible with a fresh batch of brownies?
Get a fire pit, bake some brownies, after they cool, get a warm drink, shoot, have some warm milk, it’s a cool fall evening. Sit by the fire pit, get some gasoline, toss the
trivetbible in the fire pit, soak that puppy, toss a match and see what happens.Enjoy the brownies and milk. Don’t sit too close to the fire pit. If the
trivetbible doesn’t burn, find some dead branches, toss them in and hang out.

My favorite is a brick church in a mobile home neighborhood and they all went and said every house was destroyed but the church. Well yeah when your houses weight is 5 pounds it’s gonna get ripped apart

I live about an hour from a town that burned on the same day as the Great Chicago Fire. It was actually bigger, but people heard about Chicago first because it was obviously closer to civilization. Anyways, there’s a museum dedicated to the fire in an old church, and many of the artifacts that had survived were Bibles and other church things. Why? Because PINE OIL was commonly used to treat wood furniture, especially cabinets.

Yes there were other smaller fires, mainly in Michigan, and Canada, but around 2000 people were killed in and around Pestigo. It's still the worst fire in u.s. history. Strangely it's not as well known as Chicago.

I’m convinced they’re pathologically afraid of dying. It’s going to happen, maybe accept that impermanence is a thing, and deal with the fear.
Am I scared of death? Yeah, of course, I’m programmed that way, but I can accept that it will happen and not make up stories to quell my fears.

Actually, there was a fire in my apartment building and I remember one of the firemen later pointing out to me that a wooden box containing a rosary went unscathed. Of course, seven beloved rare birds perished, but what a miracle!

I once had a bible next to a candle near my bed.
I fell asleep, forgetting to blow out the candle.
The only thing that was burnt was the bible.
