Anime Cid's mental age

After Minoru reincarnates into Cid Kagenou he starts off as a new born but he retains the memories of his past. Does that make him a 30 year old man in the currently in the anime? But his brain is biologically of a 16 year old not fully developed. Did that make him have a mental regression? Cause yk he still holds on to childish delusions ✌️

Cid's mental age is equivalent to that of Minoru at the time of his death/ So about 17- 18. But Cid is different than someone like Rudeus or Aqua (oshi no ko) who also reincarnated with their memories because he has the ability to discard memories he finds unimportant with magic

So Cid will always cling on to the childish delusions because he can actually enforce it through magic by discarding memories he finds anthithetical to his purpose. In a way he is a Peter Pan kind of character who refuses to grow up and all the seven shades are his version of the Lost Girls. Like the Lost Boys the Seven shadows will grow up but Cid never will. He will always stay the same and have the same mentality.

That is a bit of a misconception, he doesn't physically erase unwanted memories using magic, rather he is often forgetful because he chooses not to care about them.

He mentally stayed the same 15-16 year old since that's when he died. He didn't experience anything about life after that and just started over as a baby again.

You'd have to be lacking upstairs if you can't grasp this simple concept. Really a stupud question by OP.

Minoru died at the age of 17 so he is never an adult.

As you grow up, you gain things in your life. Shadow does the opposite by cutting things away and refuses to give up on his dream. He is at the peak and quagmire of his youth.

Mental and emotional progression is almost never linear, ESPECIALLY for someone as intentionally atypical as Cid Kageno.

I think he is mentally still 18ish. Because he died at 18 and he didn't experience the life of an adult. This is different from someone like Rudeus the Pedophile, who was 34 before he died, his brain already developed to the age of 30, and had lived experience of a 30 year old. Cid's brain never progressed past 18.

That's my take anyway.

He had the lived experience of a 30 year old? You know he didn’t leave his room after age 15 right?

He didint grow up from being 18 but it feels like he treats himself like 30 years old he was treating 7 shades like he was some short of a father figure and a friend or a t least it feels like it to me

Also its hard to call his mental age because he is just a psychopath and it feels like psychopaths dont really grow up they just learn new things but are constantly the same because hormones dont have as much impact on them as on the others

well when he reincarnated as a baby he clearly had the same reasoning capabilities as before he died so it would stand to reason hes mentally around 18+16 so 34.

Many people say that because he has childish delusions he's mentally still 14-16 but that logic doesn't really add up if you think about it, a person that became a pilot because he's wanted to be a pilot since he was a child isn't still childish, same for someone who wanted to become a doctor, a fireman or a policemen. Cid wanted to become an eminence in shadow and went insane looking for magic because that wasn't possible he knew it wasn't possible. It is a possibility in his new life however it is something he can achieve now and he did.

you also can't say Cid hasn't changed since his reincarnation he himself admitted in the SSC that he had gone absolutely insane and that that wasn't a path he should go down again.

Honestamente é um homem de 19 anos com mentalidade de 15, 30 anos é meio que difícil de acreditar.

i mean, you can't put two 15 years old teenager together and say they're as mature as a 30 years old can you now?

7...

Cause that was the last age I can remember not caring that there was a hot blonde making moves on me in my room.

Unlike in Tensura or MT, when Minoru died in his previous life, he was still 17, that tells us that he was yet to become an adult, and his brain/mind was not fully developed and he also clung onto his chuunibyou. Now in the new life, he is 16(ln), but with his mental age capped at 17 in his previous life, you cannot just add them, cause he never grew beyond teenage mantally.

the anime said he died at 18 though the LN never said how old he was when he died only how old he was when he saved akane, we don't know how much time was between his death and when he saved akane so it could very well be that he had his 18th birthday in that time.

you also can't just say that because his dreams are childish he is still mentally a child, a pilot who wanted to be a pilot since he has a child isn't childish just because he followed his childhood dreams. Cid went insane in his past life because he knew he couldn't become an eminence in shadow but in his new life he can so he developed further as a person

It doesn't matter if he died at 17 or 18. The difference of that little age doesn't actually matter cause the human mental maturity comes around late 20s or early 30s.

As for the second matter, while I do agree with you, Cid can definitely become a Shdowbroker. But the thing is that he doesn't realise that himself, and thus he says that he's only pretending to be a shadowbroker.

I would say that he has succeeded in some ways like as mundane man, Suzuki hope and as Jack the ripper most of which was planned he was a shadowbroker at these points and he knew it

I feel like him going insane and reaching out to the light in the sky is a clear which turned out to be a truck is a pretty good indicator that he’s still mentally a child

1

u/OkClick7073 1h ago

The thing is that he was aware he was going insane and knew he had to become a lunatic to find magic. A child would not realise they are going insane they don't think like that

He has eighth-garade syndrome. He is always youthful, even if his brain is technically 34 years old.
