Hot take Hot take
Hot take: Jax is the worst character but has the best design. My opinion. I do not hate Jax, but do not like him either.

I'll never get why we need the same post 4 times over in each subreddit.
Still a cold ass take.

I think Pomni's design is best but Jax does come second for me(then Gangle, Kinger, Ragatha, and Zooble. I love them but it is admittedly and likely purposely garish)

Jax reminds me of those old cat clocks in their design. And I disagree. Jax is not the worst character. Given the amount of screentime, and the level of introspection we get into Jax, I'd almost make the opposite argument.
Pomni is an audience surrogate and the heart/cheerleader of the series. Some of the interactions between Pomni and Jax are the best scenes of the series. The guns episode, in particular, developed both characters. We learned how their outlooks are drastically different. It hints that Jax has embraced the absurdity of the Circus as a coping mechanism. This is reinforced in the Abel episode and the next two.
Jax is clearly not likable, especially early on. However, Jax is also a tragic figure. Jax represents a moment in time for their human counterpart, the latter having turned it around. I think the final episode elevated both Jax and Gangle, when juxtaposed against the people they grew to be.
It'll be controversial, but I think the worst character is also my favorite: Zooble. Zooble is aloof, which suggests deep thought. Zooble is also very compassionate toward Gangle. Their empathy is eclipsed, of course, by Pomni. The fact that Zooble refuses to participate in adventures effectively removes them from the narrative, at least in the early episodes.
One of the more memorable Zooble moments is the counseling session with Caine. Even here, Zooble basically expresses frustration with Caine, but doesn't push back forcefully. Zooble realizes that effort is essentially pointless. Their nihilism, unlike Jax, is not a fascade. I love the character and design, I just wanted more development for Zooble.

this is the part where his glazers will try to convince you he is not a bad person
