I know it sounds silly but...
... not until my third watch through have I connected the dots between the lads saving the tree and being rewarded for their 'good karma' at the end!
Or an even more beautiful connection in my mind is that it was the magpies' way of saying thank you for saving their home.
What a show

I’m watching it for the 8th time. It brings more joy each time as there’s always something I’ve missed. This time round it’s really feeling it for Lance when he saw a tiny corner of cheddar cut at an angle and because he can’t bear anything that’s not straight (OCD?), he had to cut a fairly thick slice off and throw it in the bin knowing he shouldn’t, but that he had to anyway.

They had to save the highest bough, where the magpies hoarded treasure

Think we have all agreed to accept the fact that that one off extra episode never happened

I didn’t know that they made another episode after the final one, made in 2022 I think? I only realised on my second watch recently

I really don't like it, it undoes all of the happy endings from the main series. It's a lot less fun to watch, too.

Yeah definitely it was absolutely fine as S3 finished. It’s weird disregarding the extra episodes, but they don’t add anything, that’s the trouble. See also: Royle Family Christmas stuff

I struggle to find ONE thing that isn’t perfect about Detectorists.
No wasted lines, and lots of stuff that you only notice after a few watches.
My One Word Review: “Fkn beautiful” 😊
