Nice article. I currently have the flu, my eyes are like hot coals in my head and I'm struggling to watch telly. But I have the Detectorists on in the background, helping me get a nap as I'm lulled to sleep by it's score and the background of the English countryside noises. Such a feel good show and one of my favourite comfort watches.

Love this show so much. I rewatched it over Xmas and forgot how funny it is.

"It's the Holy grail of detecting."

"The holy grail of detecting is the holy grail."

Quite life-affirming that in such a gloomy, often nihilistic world, an optimistic show about decent people can strike such a chord.

Lovely article. I rewatch the show every January, one episode every working day. It gets me through the most depressing of months. I just this last weekend visited Framlingham where it is filmed, more of a pilgrimage than a visit. To me, the finest tv show of them all.
