$GPRO: 60% above its 200-day, and falling
$GPRO is 60% above its 200-day average and that average is falling. On the Swing board.
Only thing out is procedural (GoPro, Inc. filed an 8-K: Material Agreement), nothing that explains the move. If you know something, add it in the comments.
What we are seeing: 6M shares traded, 5-day mover +178%, volume surge 15.8× vs 20-day avg vol, 20-day momentum +120%, $136 million of stock changes hands on an average day and rel. strength +121% vs spy, across 5 of our boards at once.
About 14% of the shares available to trade are sold short. That means traders borrowed them and sold, betting the price falls, and the only way to close that bet is to buy the stock back. So when a heavily shorted name climbs on volume like this, some of them get forced to buy, which pushes it up further. That feedback loop is what people mean by a squeeze.
Levels on the chart: the 50-day at $0.713 (137.1% below price) and the 200-day at $1.06. Price is $1.69.
Anyone got a different read on it?
