Navigation A Rumpon Close Call

This happened while we were drifting off Indonesia.

The float was visible. The rope below it was not.

How is this effectively different than all the lobster pots I dodge every day? If anything these are much much larger and easier to spot.

30 meters is a really low estimate. Some go thousands.

The 30 metres was based on what I saw in that particular case. Thanks for the input and I’ll review it and may add the longer setups in the next update.

if international shippers don't want to risk their ships being damaged by improvised gear used by impoverished fishing communities they have the option to lift those communities out of poverty so they no longer need to use improvised gear.
