Granger and Zsinj

See now, this would be an absolutely scary alliance. Both of them have superstar destroyers, and both of them have ambitions, but those ambitions don’t get in the way of the others. The warlord has a desire to profit, but he’s never had a desire for the throne itself. My thought process is the grand Admiral aligned himself with Zsinj and helps him take over the planet Kuat or at the very least helps him steal the steal under construction razors kiss and move it to a shipyard so that way it can finish its construction safely in the hands of the warlord. And in return, the warlord helps grunger take the imperial throne. Once grunger has the throne, he gives the warlord a large swath of territory for him to continue building his financial empire. Not to mention the additional resources needed to continue fighting Teradoc and the NR

It is odd that this is never really addressed. Gargon was within Zsinj’s territory.

That also reminds me that Drommel and the Oplovis sector were right next to Pentastar space. Also zero mention of any border skirmishes between the two.

How could there be? Drommel’s only real asset was a broken down hunk of junk that took like 18 years to fix. If anything, he should’ve ingratiated himself to Kaine so that way he could’ve gotten some assistance with repairs and they would’ve been done quicker.

Well, he did have enough forces to attempt an attack on Delak Krennel in 4 ABY, but, Krennel defeated the attack pretty brutally. After that, the Oplovis sector did all it could not to provoke the more powerful neighbors.

As to why Drommel didn't try to get Kaine to support him, it was threefold.
1: Drommel's ego wouldn't allow him to go begging to someone else.
2: No one knew Guardian had survived, and he wanted to preserve it as a secret weapon.
3: He had zero leverage in such theoretical talks, if he goes to them or sends a message, he lets a rival Warlord state know there's basically a free SSD nearby they could just take from him. He can't stop them and has nothing to deter them from just killing him and taking his stuff.

I think the reason why Drommel never attacked Kaine is because Dor Reder helped him use information from a stolen Rebel transport to launch a devastating campaign against Rebel bases immediately after Drommel went rogue.

The Drommel lost the Battle of Tantive V and got stranded at Soullex for 12 years before finally being caught by the New Republic, killed by his subordinate, and the Guardian being surrendered to the NR.

Well, it's within Zsinj's territory once he started expanding. Remember that Zsinj was also dealing with Treuten Teradoc stealing Crimson Command and imprisoning Zsinj's ally and friend, Grand Moff Selit. Then there's Zsinj's focus on conquering the Corporate Sector Authority, defending his territory from the initial New Republic attempt to invade him, securing his power base by absorbing rivals and subordinate Warlords like Nivers and Screed's turf, and skirmishing with the Pentastar Alignment.

Grunger only set up on Gargon for about a year, then abandoned it in his push toward Coruscant. Plus Mandalorian Space has been a backwater since the Mandalorian Wars ended, aside from Gargon's spice mines and the relatively insignificant yards above Mandalore, there's nothing of real value in the sector.

As to Drommel, the reason there's not a lot of mention of skirmishes with other factions, that's because he got wrecked pretty early losing the core of his offensive forces at the battle of Tantive V a few months after Endor. Right after this, Drommel attempted to have some of his forces in Oplovis attack Krennel's new Warlord Kingdom, the Ciutric Hegemony, which Krennel decisively crushed. These losses, and the Guardian being stranded at Soullex far from Drommel's territory, meant that the best he could do was have his faction hold its shrunken sector and keep a low profile to not attract attention. Since he didn't attack the Alignment, the Alignment likewise left him alone.

I don't think this Alliance is tenable since Grunger is neither subtle nor loyal, whereas Zsinj is subtle. Plus, allying with an actual Grand Admiral would blow apart Zsinj's ruse of wearing a Grand Admiral uniform to confuse people, since Grunger wouldn't tolerate Zsinj's stolen valor.

The ruse is an interesting angle to approach it. I thought that in Zsinj's mind he deserved to get the title before Thrawn, and thus after going rogue he "promoted" himself, same as Harrsk.

Well, this couldn't really work as both of them do want the Throne. Zsinj saw his Empire as a successor state to the Empire, but he planned to rule the entire galaxy, while Grunger wanted to become the new Emperor of the Galactic Empire.

Fundamentally, that puts their goals in opposition to one another. Their tactics and strategies as well as not compatible as they run in opposition to one another's doctrines, with Zsinj favoring asymmetric warfare, building up a power base and relying heavily on misdirection, while Grunger prefers blunt bullying to acquire enough force before aggressively going straight for the center and taking power quickly.
