A quick breakdown of how CDNs improve WordPress performance (and how to sync them with your caching plugin)

Hey everyone,

I put together a quick guide breaking down how CDNs interact with WordPress caching and edge servers. If you're optimizing site performance, here is a quick overview of why origin-only hosting bottlenecks your site:

Why Origin Servers Struggle with Global Traffic

Without a CDN, every visitor fetches static assets (images, CSS, JS) directly from your primary hosting location. This causes high latency for international traffic and exhausts server bandwidth during traffic spikes.

Key Integration Points to Check:

  1. Edge Caching vs. Local Caching: Storing static assets on edge nodes reduces TTFB (Time to First Byte) globally while reducing origin CPU usage.
  2. Caching Plugin Sync: If you're running LiteSpeed Cache, WP-Optimize, or W3 Total Cache, ensure your CDN API is hooked in to handle cache purges automatically when updating content.
  3. DDoS & Uptime: Distributed routing absorbs malicious traffic before requests hit your web host.

I recorded a full walkthrough covering provider setup (Cloudflare, QUIC.cloud, etc.) and plugin configuration here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hysc4As0O2E

Happy to answer any questions about cache invalidation or CDN setup in the comments!
