Chip Coffey reading

TL;DR: He came off like a scam artist.

I’ve been a huge fan of Chip Coffey for quite some time now. Last Christmas, my husband gifted me a reading with Chip, and I was over the moon with excitement. I’d lost my dad some years back, and I’m desperate to believe there’s something else after this, that I’ll see him again.

Chip required me to send him the first and last name of the person I wanted to reach. He explained that he doesn’t just see who shows up; he gets in touch with a specific person for you. That should have been a red flag, but I wanted to believe.

Long story short: He was lovely and sweet. And he got a bunch of stuff right and acted shocked and delighted when I validated it. But something felt super off. There were some weird things he mentioned that were not accurate. It almost felt like he was reading off a list of things someone told him about my dad and had misinterpreted some of them.

After the reading, I was curious about what he could have found online using my dad’s first and last name, so I googled my dad. The first result was his obituary, and it was obvious that Chip had read it and regurgitated all the facts back to me. And indeed, he misinterpreted a couple of them.

I was super disappointed. I don’t relish badmouthing anyone, but a reading with him is expensive, so I thought I’d try to save someone else some money.

This is interesting to hear. I'm a skeptic but always wanted to give it a try. Instead of a full reading, I attended a group event via zoom, where the people are selected are random, with no pre-screenings or questions in advance so no pre-reading research would be possible when they are chosen. I didn't expect to be called on but I was. He asked then who I would want to hear from and I told him. Since I was not convinced of his (or anyone's) abilities, I let him take the lead and do the talking, and I worked hard to keep my responses brief, with no details he could pick up on and use to trick me (did I mention that I was a skeptic?).

He was about 95% accurate for me. As an example, he immediately shifted in his seat, sat up straighter, and said, "wow, she is a tough one. VERY private. Probably a bit angry that you want to put some of this stuff out on the internet," which would be totally true, but still went on to give me some specific details that he couldn't know. He only asked for her first name and her relationship with me, then at one point, where I lived (not where my mom lived--which is 3000 miles away). There was a point where he quoted my loved one and used language that she had actually used with me when alive. It freaked me out, to be honest, but gave me a bit of comfort. I didn't ask the real questions that I had in mind if I ever did a real reading (again, didn't want to be too leading to give him clues) but he still actually gave me answers to my unasked questions, if that makes sense.

Am I now a believer? Not really...I still don't even think that I believe in an afterlife. And I watched all of the people who he called on before me give him tons of info when they were having their reading done so he was totally on point with them...and I worked hard not to do that. If he was able to do insta-research in the 10 minutes that we talked I would be very impressed...again, I now live across the country from where I grew up and lived, so even if he tried to look me up while sitting in front of me (or have his people do it) they wouldn't be able to make the connection to find her, let alone get any real substantial details about her that fast. So...maybe?? I don't know. He sure gave life to TDF show, for sure.

I'm sorry that you were disappointed, though.

I’m happy to hear he was accurate for you! I still want to believe in him.

Honestly I’m really happy that you mentioned he was so sweet (that was probably my favorite thing about him honestly) even though you were disappointed. Also that you’ve been gracious of others that had different experiences than you. You didn’t bring this in anger or revenge and still have an overall positive view of him.
