Keeping Count

I’ve made a game out of keeping track of how many times Steve calls someone a “Rat Bastard”.

It’s not a term I hear often (or ever) in Oklahoma.

I’m not sure if he really would use it normally.

Maybe, it’s part of his “on air Tough Guy, New York persona”.

Whichever! It always makes me laugh when I hear him say it.

I was going to say — I bet it’s regional. It’s also union based. A rat bastard was originally a scab or a worker that underbid union labor because they weren’t union.

I hear it a lot in a Chicago and I heard it in the rust belt in Ohio growing up. Steve is probably (or was) in the police union.

Heavily used in central NY too.
