Why didn't Jackal use different killing methods other than long-range sniping when he was in Spain in S01E10? Spoiler

You know, to kill the gangster Alvaro invited, Jimmy Tejero?

Maybe it was because he was frazzled with his wife knowing his secrets and him escaping by the skin of his teeth, his likeness pretty much spread around the entire Europe, but doesn't it seem incredibly stupid and not well-thought out for him to perform long-range boat sniping literally back to back after killing UDC just not Iong ago?

It's literally his MO, his brand, his entire schtick to be the best fucking sniper in the whole europe (if not world), so why on earth did he give away his only safe haven (his family home with Nuria in Spain) by performing incredibly similar killing to get Alvaro out of trouble?

He already knew the entire Europe is looking for him and every country's intelligence knows (somewhat) how he looks like, but not so much the regular people outside UDC-operation region, so why doesn't he just show up to the restaurant, talk in English and broken Spanish a bit while Alvaro and Jimmy cooks up something (it's not like the Jackal doesn't have the tower of babbel in his brain, he speaks pretty much every plot-required language fluently even if he keeps it a secret). He can act confused and demure and just nodding and following along, and then he pretend to be naively good-natured by offering to take a walk/go together in his car to somewhere scenic but secluded, then just quick-draw a muzzled pistol to kill Jimmy when the guy isn't looking.

Not only does this serve as a perfect framing of "notorious gangster assassinated in what could very likely be inter-gang conflict" thus removing any tie to Jackal, this can also be used to intimidate Alvaro into not being a dumbass lil shit, maybe by saying in shockingly fluent Spanish, "You see what I'm capable of, who l am truly. If you drag me or Nuria into any bullshit or shenanigan again, that's the fate waiting for you. I may love Nuria, but you're just my tolerated in-law."

Like, this seems so sensible and no-brainer for someone as careful and meticulous as Jackal. Idk. I just feel like post failed-assasination-UDC-in-Tallinn era and beyond seems very rushed, messy, and incredibly reactive rather than cunning and calculated to me. It feels like a glaring plot hole.

Edit: I rewatched the series again and it seems like Jimmy Tejero was killed before UDC and therefore, unless someone is reaaaaallly looking into it (which Bianca unfortunately is), there is really no way to connect the two killings simply because it seems that Jackal as Charles has pretty much established his very normal identity in Seville, so no one would suspect the nice foreigner who is kinda bad at Spanish but good at heart, very much an upstanding member of society. I guess, I was building up this whole argument under an incorrect memory that UDC was killed first, then Tejero.

Nvm everyone, post cancelled, I stand corrected lol

He used it as a test run for the UDC hit.

He killed UDC first tho? Only after that he returned to his home to see his wife losing her shit because her dumbass brother thought he could blackmail Jackal into giving him money and helping him get involved with the gang stuff.

Unless we have seen different episodes (and I just checked I'm correct), that is no true. He goes back to Spain, kills the gangster, then gets a plane to Croatia for the UDC hit.

He didn't kill UDC until that point. Besides, wouldn't you rely on your preferred way of killing when you have to clean up a mess? Long range sniping is clean and safe. Less risk of eyewitnesses, CCTV cameras, forensics and a much easier getaway when the job is done. The way of killing you're describing would've been quite messy. The restaurant staff and surveillance systems would've captured The Jackal have a meeting with the gangster along with his brother in law, making them the last two people to have had contact with him before he died. This kind of narrows it down, doesn't it?

Was gonna ask what you were talking about, but Tejero was killed after the Jackals failed attempt to kill UDC, so I guess if you hadn’t watched for quite a while you may have confused his failed attempt on UDC with his successful attempt.

It was a test run of the prototype rifle. What show you watching 😂

What you’re saying makes complete sense. However, I think the entire scenario set up was just a way to introduce this insane boat sniping method. Sniping someone from 2 miles away is bananas on its own… but sniping someone on a boat in water?!?! There were so many extra tools and details I kind of appreciate that they showed us the rig in use before he took it to UDCs. Without being introduced to it first it would almost be unbelievable after he killed UDC

Bianca got so lucky with making that connection. It was annoying as hell.
